Stackable Washer/Dryer

Hello, soon we will be living in our Monty full time. We were reading various posts and it seems a lot of people prefer the stackable W/D. I would love to go that route, but wondering where they might fit in our 29' 5th wheel! The closet where it is supposed to go is short and the TV is directly above. Any suggestions??? Thanks everyone.... Sue & Harv

Sounds like it is time for a new Montana equipped with a washer dryer prep in a full closet or the new model that has them side by side in the slide???? Or, you may have to settle for a combo unit.

The combo unit works great for us.

Sue & Harv,

Camping World had the Splendide 2100XC Combo on sale for $899, but looks like it went up in price. I just installed one last month, I posted some pictures of the process.

Bingo, you are probably right! Wished we could get a larger model, but along with that would be the need for a larger truck! Better stick with the combo..

I hear the combo dryers are not all they are cracked up to be. We will most likely use it for the small loads and use the park W/D for towels and sheets. Unless there is a trick to drying quicker and less wrinkles!

Thanks all!

We could put the stackable units in ours, but we don't want to lose that much storage space so we are looking at the combo unit. I understand that a vented unit works best and to do multiple small loads vs trying to do large loads. Keep watching CW adds, that seem to have them on sale, I'm sorry we missed the most recent sale, 899 was an excellent price, hope they repeat it before fall as we want one before wintering for 5-6 months in the Monty (in warmer climate of course) Best of luck in what ever way you decide to go.

Follow the directions that come with the washer and it will work well.

We have a 2006 2950RK which we full timed in for almost four years, before the economic crash caught up with us. We have a Splendide combination washer/dryer in ours. Unless the stackables have gotten smaller, you won't be able to put one in the closet set aside for the washer/dryer. We had no problems with our combination w/d and used it for all of our laundry needs. Only issue was that it took most of the day to do laundry.

Do laundry while you have your coffee in the AM or in the evening while you are watching the telie. The only time I do load after load is when we have been in situation where I have been unable to do laundry for well over a week.

I love mine and after a little fussing (learning curve) I don't have issues with wrinkles. Besides, who really cares if a tshirt is a bit wrinkled???

Be sure to use the HE products and DO NOT forget the fabric softener. BTW, I use All or Tide, others here swear by the Spendide soap.

Oh, ya, vented!!

We keep a tennis ball in ours. It helps keep the clothes from wadding up.

The D/W said a firm "NO" to the stackable model. Lose all that storage space above the combo.

I'm happy to hear that the combo seems to be a good choice! I read an article that had a great tip. It said to fill reusable grocery bags, one each for white, darks, ect. Each bag represents the size load for the machine. I'm sure it will be a learning curve, but I'm just happy I will have a washer/dryer!

I'll keep an eye open for a good sale! Thanks everyone!!!!!

It sounds like the combo is about your only choice. If you do someday go for a stack, may I suggest you get apartment sized stack and NOT the RV-specific stack. The RV units have very small tubs, which means many more loads. Ours were built for apartment use and came with the stacking frame intended to be put in an apartment closet. Our dealer recommended and installed these. They've been in two Montanas since July, 2002, including weekly use during our fulltiming since March 2003, and are still going strong.
