50A Hard Wire Surge Protection

My search skills are weak - what 50A Surge protection is worth the money. Wanting to do hard wire some it doesn't walk off.

Thoughts?

You could have picked a cooler time of the year to do this project. The Texas heat is unbearable. Be sure to plug in an fan to keep you cool. Good luck with a great product.

Just put one in my partner's '18 3790RD today. She and her husband wanted to protect the rig, so I suggested Progressive Dynamics and installed it today for them. Don't worry, it was still in "assembly mode" when the pic was taken. I pulled the wire back down and put it under the basement stairs.

Mine has never walked off. I don't lock it to the cord Most RV'ers aren't thieves.

It's not the RV'ers its the people who troll the camping areas looking for anything to steal.

I know that any thing can happen any time , any place to anyone however in 12 years of long timing and over 20 years of Rv'ing we have not had anything walk off or personally know of anyone who has.

Well I have been accused of moving a friend's kayak for shock purposes a few times.

Not sure where your electric panel/converter is located, but on our rig there is a large cavity behind the panel assembly, and that is where I installed our EMS. There was no need to cut the incoming cable, just added several feet more wire.

I also installed mine behind the breaker/converter panel and there was PLENTY of excess wire to cut off 30-36" to make a pigtail and not purchase any additional wire. BTW, I have done it like this on three Montanas with no problems at all.

I think thieves would steal the power cord before they would steal a serge protector.

So my transfer switch was incorrectly mounted in my rig and it prematurely failed. I went with a new one that had surge protection built in and that way I can access the entire thing and repair it from the garage bay. If it fails you just replace the control board. I will be ordering a spare one of those just to have handy.

Here is what I got:
