tire valve stems (Clamp in)
I replaced the Mission tires and had this style "Clamp in" valve stem installed. They come in three lengths 3/4 inch, 1 1/4 inch, and 1 3/4 inch. Not knowing I got the 1 3/4 inch which is probably too long. If I did it again I would go with the 1 1/4 inch. I like these because I feel they will support a tire monitor cap better.

I had similar ones installed right after we purchased the RV. Only difference, the compression nut is on the outside on the ones I have.

John,
Do you know if they are good for both the steel and alloy? and will they support the 110psi?

H.John, the ones I have are similar, our 5th wheel came with the metal stems and my tires are 110 lbs air pressure. I had to change out the rubber stems for the metal on the Truck and had to get 1 3/4" so I could install the Pressure Pro system. Got mine at the local parts store. The Clamp in valve stem looks like a great upgrade. Thanks for the post. GBY...

Those are very good stems John. I use something similar here at the tire store for trailer tires that require high pressure stems. Mine are probably the same ones Slick Willie had installed.
Yes Brad, they are more than adequate to carry the 110 psi, and they will work on steel and alloy wheels.

Lonnie, I bought my Michelin tires from Costco and my new rims from Les Schwab and had Costco mount the tires. Costco said the steel valve stems Les Schwab gave with the rims would not work and used high pressure rubber valve stems instead. I have the new seyup for almost a year now. Should I be concerned about the rubber stems. They are on a 2880RL that weighs about 10400# loaded and I carry 80# air. You are the expert on tires.

Jeff, you will probably be ok with the high pressure, rubber, snap in stems. Just keep an eye on them for weather cracking, and other signs of deterioration. If the stems that Les Schwabb supplied with the wheels wouldn't work, maybe the ones on H. John Kohl's original post will. There is also a snap in stem that is all brass with a rubber grommet molded on the end that goes through the wheel. These are what I have on my trailer, and my truck, and they seem to be holding up well. I still prefer the type with the compression nut, just didn't have any in stock when I put the new tires on my trailer.

So, our brand new tire, on our brand new Montana 3120RL, suffered a broken stem while checking tire pressure on our second trip out. As a result of that, we found out these valve stems are NOT carried as standard stock in places like Discount Tire, and most other tire repair facilities. So, preparing for the future, we went out and bought 4 spare stems to keep in the tool box. Can anyone confirm whether or not we bought the right valve stems for our Salun S637 tires? We bought Napa Tubeless Clamp on Tire Valve Part No. 90-416?

These NAPA valve stems are perfect, rated up to 200 psi, so should work great. What kind of stems were installed, that one of them broke?

What kind of snap in valve did they put in your wheels are they rubber ones? All the Montana's we have had all came with steel ones. If they are rubber you need to change them all. And how did you brake one off that's not an easy thing to do on the fact they don't stick out pass the wheel! Like Bob said the napa will work fine.

Here's a photo of the culprit. It broke off while I was trying to top off the pressure before taking off. Could only find this one mark on it (see photo)
