Battery Switch
Well we took delivery of our new 3400 last Friday and we are slowly learning its hidden secrets.
I'm still trying to understand why we have a Battery Switch that doesn't turn the battery "off" for some of the systems and does turn it "off" for some other ones???
Anybody have thoughts on this?
Thanks Ken

Unless they have changed the switch wiring, I believe it does not turn off the front jacks (and possibly the slides - not sure). The purpose of the battery switch is to eliminate the small current draws that can drain the battery over time. For instance, most people don't realize that the propane detector is "on" all the time, so if your unit is sitting (say in storage) for an extended time, the draw can drain the battery. If there are other systems that have draws that are being left on, then the switch is not serving it's intended purpose.

Bingo, I think in addition to the propane detector that the CO2 detector and smoke alarm are also on full time. I used to disconnect the battery cable when for storage more than 3 weeks. Now I store it in a covered bay with an electric outlet, so if the bat does go dead between trips I at least have power to open up for loading etc. before a trip.

That precisely my point. Whats the point in having a Battery Switch that does not turn the battery "off"?
Cheers Ken

Battery Disconnect kill all power to the DC Bus inside the Monty. Items that draw power besides the detectors, are TV antenna Amp, and bedroom TV. They will drain a 12V deep cycle in 3-4 weeks if left on. Since Front Feet, Stabilizers, and Room slides are on there own circuit breaker in battery compartment, they will operator with disconnect in off position.
