Refrigerator Replacement

I have a Dometic RM1350SLMX (double door 32”x 62”) rv refrigerator that I would like to replace with a residential one. Any recommendations on a make and model??

Thx

Razrbk-- I have a question? Why do you want to go to a residential refrigerator rather than the RV refrigerator? I know there are plenty of units being bought with residential refrig's in them. By going to the residential you will need to add an additional inverter, added wiring and also add multiple batteries to be able to keep your residential frig running while you are on the road if that is the case or doing any boondocking. IF you are not on the road and have it in a campground or permanently parked somewhere, this may be an option however. I'm just curious for the reason for changing that's all.

The samsung 18 cu ft is what I went with because it uses an inverter compressor and has dual evaporators so there is no air bleed from freezer to fridge section. The max current draw for this unit is 3 amps. Most times it loafs at 140-170 watts on restart with the fridge cool, then drops to 40 watts or so....or a little over one amp, then drops to a 1/3 of an amp. You will have to rework the enclosure, seal up the vents with foam, remove propane line, and implement some kind of restraint system to keep the fridge in its cavity, and have an inverter installation done with proper electrical safety devices, and enough battery capacity to keep things running without going anywhere near the 50% charge level limit on batteries...lithium iron phosphate being the exception, but then they are really expensive and would also require replacing the existing converter with a new unit that could deal with that technology. Just my two cents worth.

Nobody can give you an accurate model without knowing your specific unit/floor plan. For example, we have the same frig you do. Toyed with a residential replacement. Because we have an island, depth was a key issue, and we found only Handleless refrigerators would work because the frig came right up to the island when slide was closed.

Mike is 100% correct. If your model has no island clearance issues, then life is much easier. Mine was the case of island interference and I had to rework cabinets in the living room so that I could move the fridge cavity 6 inches to the rear to get around the fridge handles hitting the island. You need to consider space in front of fridge to make sure it will work. Of course , moving mine that 6 inches also meant that I lost the sofa since on my model it was right next to the fridge.

We have the Norcold 1210, and after having the cooling unit replaced twice within a six month period, I installed an ARP device when the second cooling unit was installed. That was in 2015, and with the ARP device, we are on that same cooling unit. Two basic failures occur with these units, and both are usually from running them off level. You can have a failure that leaks the cooling fluid, or when running the boiler excessively hot from being off level the cooling fluid will crystallize and plug up the system. Our ARP device shuts off the fridge if the boiler temperature exceeds a set temp, and starts it back up when it has cooled. We have no interest in this company other than owning their device. https://www.arprv.com/

Im with Rohrmann, We have the ARP and it works perfectly. We also have the 2 additional fans (1 at the upper vent and 1 at the lower vent). Just spent 2 weeks in 100 degree weather with 110 heat index's with no issues.

We have a 2014 331 rlt with a rolling island and the norcold 1210 after 2 cooling units full time running in Florida heat we got tired of it spoiling food, so we replaced it with a Frigidaire #FFBN1721TV and never looked back. Love it love it, love it. We had to remove the drawer and platform from the hole and it went right in.
