Excellent, and was it covered under warranty?

Must have taken many hours from skilled workmen if it took that long to fabricate it

I'm glad they sent you one so quickly Jim. When I get mine next month up at Lazy Days it will be right at 12 months. Pretty darn good service if you ask me.

Joe, it was your picture sent directly to Mr Holmes that got me my latch. On a previous problem I had a chance to spend about 20 minutes on the phone with him, so we kinda knew each other and he also worked for the company my last SOB was from. I honestly think he was embarrassed that a retail customer could find a part number that his parts manager could not.

I think it will fail quickly. The rivet thru the joint where the handle has to turn 90 degrees is so tight it tries to turn the window attachment part instead of turning easily and pulling evenly on the window. The tightness is the same as my broken part. In checking the 9" long handles in the past the hinge area is free to turn.

I will probably try and loosen the rivet before I install it. If I do.

You did well, Jim! Ours broke also, and could not get the part. Dealer sent a longer version which promptly also broke in the same place. Keystone replaced the window but couldn't find the part! Way to go!!! And, thanks for the info.

I have ordered this part three times from Kenro and gotten the wrong part each time. Do you have the part number so that I can call and order again. I sent picture twice and still got the longer arm.

Thanks

Chris, Go to http://www.safercar.gov/File a complaint.

Larry Long @ the DOT is following this Emergency Window Escape latch thing. After you file, he will probably call you for more details.

The one at that site looks like the long one, which is not the correct one for these newer rear exit windows. Heck, the ones on your link are sold everywhere.

What Joe said. The 9" are available EVERYWHERE. Go find me a 5 1/2" one.

I am shaking my head. My last boss used to tell me that my reward for doing an outstanding job was that I got to keep it. Need bosses like that in the RV industry.

Not sure what model you have or if you are under warranty, but this all started reference these short emergency latch handles because some of our new units had broken ones. Keystone, their dealers, and the actual window manufacturer claimed not to have the replacements.

I think Jim was the first one to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety folks with a complaint. I also filed a complaint with them. It wasn't long after they opened their investigation that the handles became "available" in Keystone's supply chain.

Dealers should now have them in stock or be able to get them. I know my dealer mysteriously received a whole box of them after being contacted by the federal investigators.
