I am thinking of installing either the level up system or the electric ground control system on my Montana. I was wondering if anyone knows the pros and cons of each system. Any information would be helpful. Thanks

we have the level up system on our new 2014 montana 3625re it was new to us but love the simplicity of the system unhook and auto level in 1 minute and your done.

I have the level up system. I have no actual experience with the Ground Control, but I will offer my thoughts.

The ground control system has a electric motor at each jack. That would mean 6 electric motors. The Level Up system has one electric motor.

The ground control jacks are what we used 15 years ago on the front landing legs. You have to drop the leg pads by hand and then lower the jacks. It shows the leg stabilized by the JT Strong Arm. More bending over to mess with it. Realize the electric motor turns a gear that in turn causes a screw to cause the jack to move. These gears require lubing, which will probably not be done.

I remember how slow the electric jacks moved, knowing how fast my system works, I would never consider it.

The Level Up system is the next generation of jacks. Other than wiping the piston legs with a clean rag and applying a bit of spray lube, they are almost maintenance free.

Pricing is probably less with the ground control, but If spending that much, a bit more just makes sense to get, what in my opinion would be a better system.

I fully agree. You won't want to get one and then wish you had the other. Way too many satisfied customers with level-up, in my opinion, to risk a substitute.

Since you are in the Buffalo/Cleveland area(which is still quite an area), why not just head down I-80 and Go to Lippert themselves and have the pros install it! At least if there is a problem you can then blame the head company! While at the Fall Rally over the past three or four years now there have been a lot of the MOC members that have had the Level Up system put on. A lot of the newer rigs coming out now have the Level Up system installed and come out of the factory with it on them. If you're not snowed in and can get your unit out and on the road that is the way to go, IMHO!

Also, if you bring it to the Fall rally and have it done then, for the last number of years they've had a Rally special that saved you hundreds of dollars.

Adding a 5K option does not add 5K to the value of a used 5th.

The 2014 price list shows the list price of a 6pt level up as $3,475. Figure 40% off list, where you actually buy these things that is $2,085 for what it costs if you buy a new trailer.

Just a thought.

I like your logic but if the current rig is paid for and it's in good shape, 5k is not a bad deal. It would cost us over $23k to get a new one. Not in the cards.

Our Big Sky came with the Lippert auto level system. Love it and will not buy another rig without it.

I bought the Lippert Ground Control for $2350.00 FOB the house. Installed it myself and I very happy with the results. It was easy to install took me 9 hours to R&R the front install the control module and install the rear jacks. As to speed it is twice as fast as the old front legs I removed. The people at Dyers.com were very helpful with the order.

As to why I did Lippert. After setting up my 2012 3400RL in May 2014 in South Lake Tahoe in the snow and rain I decided I need help setting up. We couldn't afford the $5-6K for 6point hyd. I didn't want hydraulics as the cylinders do leak Internally after a few years and rebuilding them is a pain. The electric jack is reliable and they work for me.

Simple answer: If you really love what you have and don't want to give it, install the upgrade. If you can find fault with what you have and have seen something you like better, upgrade RVs making sure it includes the Level-Up
