2nd Awning on 343RL

We are beginning to enjoy our new Montana HC - 343RL. I've seen a few photo's of Monte's with a 2nd awning attached to the slide adjacent to the primary (main awning). However, from the looks of our 343RL, there may not be enough clearance at the top (Given we have Slide Toppers) to install an awning.

Does anyone have a 2nd Awning attached to a Slide, whereby they also have slide toppers?

Dave, We have the second awning mounted on our door side slide and also have the toppers. This is probably one of the best mods that I have done to the Monty. Below are a couple of pictures, the first showing the slide before the awning install and the last showing the mounting rail installed below the topper mounting bracket. Please feel free to PM me with any questions. Tim

Nice job on getting both the awning and slide topper on the slide. It looks nice and having the second awning sure makes it nicer when you are camping. Did you install it or did you have an RV dealership do it?

Tom, The slide toppers were already in place and I had Camping World of Indianapolis perform the awning install which was a fiasco but that's a story for another day. I did provide the color, brand and length of awning that I needed. I also requested the manual style because I didn't trust them to do any electrical work. We really enjoy the additional shade and outside living space that has been added. We usually put the picnic table under the new awning which opens up the larger awning for lawn chairs etc. I have also found that the newly found shade helps to keep the living room a little cooler by shading the large slide. Hi. Thanks for your reply and update. Yes, we think, this would be a great addition. The issue is that of clearance between the window and the brackets for the slide topper.

If I knew how to include a photo, I'd add one.
Perhaps, I'll try.
Thanks.

Our fiver has the kitchen on the door side. I would like to add a second awning as well, but am concerned with the top vent for the fridge being a problem. As a matter of fact, it may be too high for the awning to be mounted. Any thoughts?

After looking at a side picture of my unit (I'm at work) I don't believe the second awning will work with my slide topper and fridge vent together. It would be nice though!

My 3160 has the fridge on the door side and came with an awning from the factory. I would guess it was engineered for it to work correctly. I just wish it was also engineered to have room for a slide topper. I think if you had the slide toppers put on first you could then have a better chance of putting the awning on. It would just have to be a couple of inches lower.
