I have a 2018 Montana fb3920 with 235/80/16 14 ply rainier tires from china.
Has anyone had experience with traveling on these?

Welcome to the forum!

The early E rated Rainer tires have a poor reputation. There has been very little data on the newer G rated tires. Let us know how it goes.

I've not had the mentioned tires. I do know the tire has a 5 yr warranty. The tire supplier Tredit, also offers a Tredit Advantage Program. It's an application you download to your phone. I've attached some information on the app.

We have about 1400 miles on our Rainiers without issues but I don't trust them. My plan is to use them this season while keeping a very close eye on them and changing them out before season 2.

They did indeed come with a 4 or 5 year warranty through Tredit. Still have little faith in them.

We ran our new tires for one season, but felt very uneasy about the reputation these tires had. I pulled in to a site and the first words from a fellow camper was; I should get rid of them quickly. My next campgrounds, two new model 5th wheels had severe damage from blowouts associated with the china tires. I spent a $1000 for G rated tires and replaced all 5 after the 1st season and it has been well worth the peace of mind that comes with it.

Look at the Brochure for your model year. Does it tout Rainier tires?
The latest Montana brochure touts Sailuns.

Having roadside assistance to help if a tire blows is good.
What is better is not have a tire blow at all.

Having a tire blow and the damage it can cause could be a trip ruining event

The correct size of Sailuns don`t cost that much and eliminates one more thing to worry about. I find it hard to believe people still try and get away with the factory tires after all that`s been written about them. Really stock tires are just delivery tires IMHO. Adding a few hundred dollars to the cost of a very expensive camper should be nothing to fret about. Consider the damage cost and time down.

Check your spec sheet against what's on your rig. For my 2018 HC345RL, it specs a ST235/80R16 load range F. My surprise yesterday when I noticed they are actually a load range E. Heading to the dealer tomorrow for, hopefully, the gear box oil leak fix.

When I got my Montana HC the service manager with 30+ years in the business told me "Run them for a year and then get rid of them". I got rid of them after 3 days of ownership. Call it peace of mind, call it not having to deal with a blow out at the worst possible time, call it stupid, I don't worry about it now. IMHO, buy the best that you can afford, as soon as you can and move on to something more important-LIKE DINNER!

If you look there is a a disclaimer that says they are free at anytime to change the specifications at anytime

We bought our first trailer in 2015 and ran the factory China bombs for a year. Then I changed them out for Goodyear Endurance which I believe are about the only American made trailer tires. Not only did it give me peace of mind, but it seemed like the TT pulled better with the Goodyears. We now have a new High Country 321MK with factory tires and in spite of the 5 year warranty, I will be getting rid of them next year.

Great discussion you guys - thanks. We just got back from a 5,000 mile trip to Florida and had a bolt enter one of our Rainier tires and then after the tire was replaced the others wore very poorly feathering the inside tread. We will be replacing them based on your suggestions. We have a 2018 HM312RE (34 ft) we tow with a 2018 Chev 2500 HD with the Duramax and the combination towed like a gem despite the tire issues.

I live close to I81. Exit 143 Va. it’s got several tire stores close by. During the summer I see several campers with blown tires. All have one thing in common China bomb tires. Sometimes I try to tell the owner about the tires and usually they get mad. They aren’t in a good mood anyway just having done thousands of dollars damage to their camper.

I’m just a country boy and one thing I’ve learned is you can take a horse to water but you can’t make him drink. But then it’s not my camper so I really don’t care.

With all the info out there on Sailuns ,and there reputation ,why look any further.

I know some get hung up on the Sailuns being made in China, for what it is worth they are building two plants in the US.

I have had Rainier's and Carlisle's. Will stick with Sailuns.

I have been running a set of Goodyear G614 on my 3406 and have not had any problems from them. My trailer came with Rainiers and I had Carlisles on my last trailer. Both cost me more in damages than the new G614s

We have 12,000 miles on ours already from our 2018 Montana 3121RL we bought new 2-15-2018.

I keep them at 110 per tire, check them often for any signs of defects or rocks in the treads and check them before we leave for every trip also when we leave our destination to come home. We carry a compressor with us to always keep them at 110PSI hot or cold no issues.
