Robbie Simons did it on the road at the Rogue River in Oregon. A steady hand and a lot of onlookers made all the difference.

OZZ did the same thing some time ago. I, too, would like to do this and may look into purchasing the window in Goshen this October....Maybe a "Frosted window"?

Sure, the new models have a window in there. Besides, all it takes is $$$ and you can do anything.

I have run across pics of Ozz's window install in the past and thought it would be a great addition the biggest question I have is how do you find out if there are any exterior wall studs in the way I have a "04" 3670 RL if that helps?

I'm not sure how they found the studs in the wall on Robbie's rig but I assume it was with a stud finder. It only took them a couple of hours or so to do the job. It is certainly a very doable project.

mperk,
I am sure someone else will be along to answer your question too, but if I remember correctly Jim(Ozz) said you can find your studs on a day that has dew. The studs collect moisture on them. I have seen where ours are on such a morning.

We have had bathroom windows in several of our 5th wheels and found they really weren't needed and when we special ordered our 5th wheel we had the bathroom window removed. But its correct when there is a dew the studs can be seen. Our Cambridge 358 had our first bathroom window and we though it would be great. But after a while we really didn't get any use out of it. Most bathrooms have a fan system and it removes the air quickly. Our present 5th wheel has a Surflo Fan and the standard bath room fan in the inclosed bathroom area and they take care of the air circulation. Good Luck with your choice. GBY......

As others have motioned, you can see where the studs are on a dewy morning. Also a stud sensor will work using it on the inside of the wall. I have installed four windows using a stud sensor to find the studs and so far haven't hit anything I shouldn't. After marking the location of the window, I check for studs with a small nail and hammer. Be sure to check both horizontally and vertically with a nail. If you are installing the window by a slide-out, be sure to check the height of header over the slide opening. The headers extend past the slide opening about 2' and you don't want to cut into one. You can order a window from a RV window manufacture or from a RV dealer. I got one from a manufacture two years ago while we were at the Fall Rally and it was about $35.00 for a small bathroom window.

The windows can be gotten here: Kinro Windows, 2101 Kinro Court, Elkhart, IN 46514
(574) 264-6590, or here: 1206 Eisenhower Dr.Goshen, IN 46526
(574) 533-8337 We got our double pane escape windows there last fall, not sure which # we used but if you are going to the rally stop by site 466 or 468 and one of us can find the receipt. they are very friendly and work fast. They do require cash though when ya pick them up. Just tell them you are at the rally. If you aren't going to make the rally then call them and see what you can work out for shipping. You will have to decide on size and give them some measurements... Dave
