Awning crash

So last nigh a pop up thunderstorm hit quickly so I jump up to real in the awning. While I'm at the back door where the switch panel is unbenonst to me the wind blew the front door open because I hadn't shut it tightly in my haste to get to the awning switch. Long story short the door gets tangled in the awning arm and bends it up like a pretzel.

Now I'm guessing the supplier is Lippert though I suppose it could be a Dometic awning, I don't know which. Maybe someone here can help with that.

So my questions is does anyone know where I can get parts for this? I'll attach phots so you can see it's just the one arm brace that's bent. Second question is has anyone replaced parts in this area and when I detatch the roller will I get a surprise of some spring under tension or something?

One of ours had a problem from the factory and it was a Dometic. I think there's also a tag on it, but it's probably rolled up so I would just call Dometic customer service and see where you can go from there..

Looks like a Dometic either 9200 or 9500 can't remember which. It does have a spring. Looking at awning the right side has a motor and the left side has a wind up spring. To be on the safe side put a pin in the left side to lock it.

Thanks to all. You got me thinking and I suddenly had and epiphany and thought to look through the pile of manuals I have and sure enough there it was, the Dometic 9100 installation instructions. Wow, even at this grand age I continue to amaze myself.

I have an email into my dealer to see if it's covered under my lifetime warrenty. After that fails, I will call Dometic and talk to them. At least now I know that it's called the front channel that needs replacing and I see what Paul meant by pinning the left side to lock the toursion spring. Once I obtane the part I will be able to install myself with the extra pair of hands of my grandson.

Love this forum.

There should have been a syicker on one of the arms but with that said, it most likely is a Dometic. Keystone was 'kind' enough to include the owner's manual in the pile of paper that was in the cupboard

The part needed may be hard to come by without buying a complete "arm assembly". I have heard of others that ran into that. Not likely your dealer will replace under warranty unless they just do it out of kindness. My dealer did replace a compartment door once himself after Keystone balked on it.

Welp, the email to my contact and the dealer bounced so I guess he doesn't work there anymore, so contacted Dometic today and I can't buy the one part I need, I have to get the whole assembly as Webefulltime predicted. It'll make it easier I guess to install but a bit expensive. Total price with a tech coming out to install is just over $600. I can however get it on Amizon with free shiping and install myself for $300.

BTW, I did find the sticker with the model no.

Thanks all for the help, especially the tip on pinning the roller.
