New kitty

We have a new member of our fur family! Another Maine Coon kitty. His name is Theo and is about same age as our Nino. Theo is bigger if we ever thought that was possible. Nino weighs around 19 pounds and this one weighs over 20. Main coons are big cats! We think he will travel as well as Nino. He was competely confortable on way from the rescue place. We should have known better than to stop to just "look."
He is chipped and fixed. Had his shots so he has been well cared for. Supposed to get along with dogs and other cat. We will see. He is on a trial right now. I sure don't want to take him back.
He has a gray stripped face and gray body with faint stripes on back legs. Long hair. Big eyes!

Congratulations on your new kitty. I hope he turns out to be as good as your other one. I'm a cat lover, but Vanessa doesn't like them. It's kinda funny, every cat we have ever had, liked her better than me.

I understand 'fixed' but what is 'chipped'? BTW, I do like cats too.

Dustytuu,

Congrats on your new family member. The trial run thing means you are already hooked. There is nothing better than talking to a pet that just listens. When they respond back you aren't sure what they are saying so they must be agreeing with you. Here is hoping that the sleep over is permanent.

You mean the "growl over"

He is adjusting a little but everytime he and Nino look at each other they growl and spit.
Here is a picture of him..

He runs when he sees us. But not far. Wonder if he will get over that? He doesn't want to make himself easy. Ha Ha

We are still working with him. He seems to not know what a litter box is for! He has his very own. I put him in the laundry room with it until he learns what it is for. After a couple of accidents.
He did start eating today! yippee!
The dogs are another story. They do not bother Nino. Nino is not afraid of them and he won't run. But this kitty is terrified of the dogs. (he is about same size as dogs) If he didn't run they would not have any interest. Maybe when he learns about the litter box and comes out of the laundry room, I can start over introducing the dogs to him.

Thanks everyone! We think he is awesome!
After he gets his weight back, he is going to be a very large cat. Maybe well over 20 pounds.

We, too, have a wonderful kitty. We'd like to take ours with us when we go traveling. How do you handle the kitty litter etc? Glad your new kitty found such a loving home!

Just checked back in on your progress with the new kitty and saw his picture - he is beautiful! Hope all goes well, seems it takes awhile for each to fit in. Strange about the litter box though.

sandreasen, just find a place for the litter box and give it a whirl taking your kitty with you.

Safe travels.

We have another kitty that travels very well. I put a litter box in the back seat of truck and take it into the house when we get there.
Hope this new one travels well.
He has been using the litter box since I have him in laundry room. He has started to eat too. I have been introducing him to the dogs and other cat a little at a time. New cat is timid.
Here is a picture of our other cat traveling. He likes to ride on the consol. Or in back seat between the dogs. All of our animals use pet seat belt harness, that are fastened to truck seat belts. This cat wears a dog size harness seat belt.

New kitty has a date with our vet next week for shots and etc. Then next day he has a date to get groomed. Washed and brushed out. Poor kitty!
