Speaker Bracket Found Dangling

When we parked Monty, following a short trip, one of the LR speakers was fond dangling from the ceiling. The bracket had broken where the swivel is mounted. I suspect that it had loosened and the vibration eventually caused the bracket to break. Is this something that I can pick up while at the Fall Rally? (@ the Parts Office or from a vendor?)

I had the same problem. The original bracket was plastic. The dealer replaced them with metal. I think he told me that he got them at Radio Shack.

Yup---Radio Shack is where I had to get mine----somehow 30 bucks a pair rings a bell, but I could be wrong.

Sad to say, but the replacements are better material than the originals and will probably last longer. I replaced both rear brackets sometime last year. The factory brackets looked like they were squeezed too tight and were cracked at the ball where they are aimed toward the front of the living room. Just a minor fix!

Mine broke two weeks ago. Glad to hear I can purchase at Radio Shack.
Sounds like Keystone needs to make a change.

Mine broke last winter on the California freeways and I got a new set at Wal-mart. The original ones were just too flimsy and the new ones are really much better. Paid around $25 but they are much more skookum.

I replaced both of mine with little 2" metal L brackets.
Painted them black, Took the ball out of the speakers and replaced it with a 10/32 Stove bolt (I think)
Screwed the (now black) angle bracket in the place where the original brackets were and used the stove bolts
plus a few nuts to mount the speakers (actually we replaced the speakers with better ones).
Bent the brackets so the speakers were angled down a little.
The brackets & the bolts couldn't have cost more then 2 to 3 dollars. Look like they have always been there.
(can't really see them any ways, they are behind the speakers)
Strong like bull.

John,
Sounds like a great fix. Especially One that doesn't cost much. Plus sounds like a pretty easy one to do.

Thanks again to all who responded.

Yes, Rich, just like the slide kits, more bad design.

My brackets also failed (twice). The cupped portion has no strength and breaks under tension. While similar brackets are available in metal, I found an excellent replacement at Walmart. A pair of fully adjustable brackets (allowing much better orientation of the surround speakers)for less than $10. They easily support my heavier replacement speakers, but will also accept the Quest speakers with screws provided that fit the threaded Quest mounting holes.
