Fridge help needed
I am a new Montana owner to a 353rl. It seems the fridge takes a lot longer to cool down that's last trailer. ? Is this normal? Also is it safe to run fridge off lp while going down the road? Trying to figure out best way to cool fridge before hand so we don't have to wait 5 hours for it to cool

I run mine on propane while driving. Some will argue against it as open flames in fuel stations is a risk.
The 18cuft will take longer than the smaller ones I've had in the past simply based on size.

They do frequently take a long time to cool down, but then take a long time to get hot also. We've had a tire blow and take out the propane hose going to the kitchen slide before and were really glad we didn't travel with the propane on.

huh, I have always traveled with the propane on and cooling fridge. Quick cool tip, keep bottles of water frozen, put in fridge and freezer when turning on.

1st trip out I was concerned it was taking so long tp cool. Granted it was 97 out but once it started to cool the 4 door Dometic has been great. Hope it stays that way.

I have the 4 door Dometic. Mine was at 33 deg. turned it off for 1 hour while I drove to campground.Then I turned it on electric. I also put a switch on it to keep the fans running. The temp kept going up to 50 deg. I put it on gas and the temp came back down to 35. I put it back on electric and it ran fine after that. I turned off the fans and let the ref turn them on when it wanted to. The ref ran for 3 days on electric ok. So I guess it just takes a long time for ref to get going and it cools faster on propane.

Never thought of starting the refer on gas. I know the HW works faster on gas but always just use electric for both. Will begin starting the fridge on gas and changing over to electric after it cools. Never in a big hurry for HW when we set up.
