Ppropane Regulator

Propane not switching automatically from right to left when tank gets empty. I can switch manually but then gage shows half red and half green on a full tank. Regulator or something else I should check? Marshall Regulator 605H

I cannot help with why the autoswitcher, but my gauge reads half red when one tank is empty. I think that's normal. I think I have the same regulator.

That autoswitcher seems like black magic to me. I do think I am using it correctly, but I also use individual in-line propane gauges at each tank to indicate which tank is empty. Oh well, it works for me.

Are you turning the lever on the regulator from one tank to the other tank when one runs out and are both tanks open, and open the valves on the tanks slowly.

We've been using this type of regulator since 1980 and when one tank is empty, the regulator "window" shows red. Now, when I look at it closely, it seems to be half red. When I switch it to the full tank, the regulator shows all green. I never paid much attention to whether or not it was "all red" because when red shows, the tank the regulator switch is looking at is empty. I think it may be the nature of the regulator window such that it appears to be half red. I think you can rely on it being empty.

Wejust had ours replaced as it was sticking and sometimes would not let either bottle flow. Was not that expensive.
Happy trails....................

There are a couple of threads on this subject. We had the same problem, contacted the company that makes the change over valve. The expert said it was not the change over valve, but the red regulator that came as oem, and told us to get a C6121 (from the same company, can't recall the name). Try here: http://rvwholesalers.com/

That fixed the problem.

Okay, I looked up the info.

The OEM is a Marshall GR618, 18PSI, it's red and located on the right (curb side) tank. The replacement is a Marshall C6121, 30PSI. POC at Marshall is Ed Lee, 800-877-2495 X2415. He is very knowledgeable and helpful...I think he's the guy that designed the new regulator.

I got mine at www.rvwholesalers.com, $34 plus s&h.

On edit: The OEM regulator is not strong enough to make the auto changeover valve work. The C6121 fixes the problem.

Ed I dont have the red reg on the door side never did I just open the tank slow and it works fine. I have had to change my reg 2 times since I got the camper. they are just not that good. marshall makes them and it seems they get moisture in the top from the gas and they will get where they wont change over. Not hard to change if you have tools.JMHO most gas and hyd stores carry them. hope you folks are having a great time.

Thanks for the input. I talked to the people at Marshall Gas on Friday. Just have to get motivated and change it out.
