I have a 2007 3485SA and a 2005 GMC 2500HD 4X4 Duramax Allison.
what's the more accurate numbers unloaded and loaded?
Way too many variables to even guess loaded. Every personal item you and your spouse load into that Monty changes the loaded weight. Every dealer installed accessory added to Monty changes the loaded weight.
You can find the unloaded weight inside one of the kitchen cabinet doors.

Well swanny i haul my 3465sa with a f250 short box and use a pull-rite hitch.. i will get some air bags this winter in fl , but if you look all the 3400 units and over half are hauled with a 3/4 ton truck ,,, by the way that new 3465sa is a great rig , if you were at the rally in goshen you would have seen all the adds i did to my unit since aug 08 .. also you would have a check from keystone for $1000.00 for your new rig ,,, sailer

We have a 2008 3485SA and pull it with a 2007 2500HD DuraMax. When at the Escapees Escapade in Gillete, WY we had the unit weighed by the Safety Education foundation. I tried to attach the results which indicate we are within spec. on all axles, vehicle etc. but am not smart enough to do so. We were fully loaded, wife in the truck and full of water. I can e-mail if you can provide your e-mail address.
Total Tow vehicle weight was 13,825, GCVW 21,550, Pin wt. 2,475 each axle was below max.

I take it your questioning the tow rating of you truck. The 2007 Guide to Towing, published by the folks at Trailer Life, list the Sierra 2500 HD Crew Cab 4WD Standard Bed 6.6L V-8 TD at 14,200 lbs.
Like others have said, there are several vairables that need to be considered when deciding on the safety of a truck/trailer combo.
Good luck.

Way to many variables. The pin weight is usually figured as no more than 20% of the camper Gross weight. The weight in the cabinet is not accurate. The $1000.00 coupon(not a check) that Montana "at times" gives out at the fall rally and other rallies that are attended by Montana executives is a perk that one may receive if attending the rally. There are many advantages of attending the fall rally..that is one of them.

Hi Swanny...First of all, congratulations on the new 3465sa. We have a similar setup to yours. Our 3465sa is also an 2009 with most of the options. We do not have the washer/dryer, second a/c or generator (items that would add a lot of pin weight). Our truck is a 2008 Sierra ext cab with dmax and allison. The pin weight is 2480 lbs loaded and ready to go. I've done an Excel spreadsheet which looks at all of the weights-if you'd like a copy, I'll be glad to send it to you-just send me a PM.
You're gonna love that unit. It's great.

Swanny, further to the previous post, I forgot to mention that the truck is a 2500HD.

As an average, add 500# to the empty PW for a loaded PW.
IM very HO, a 3/4 ton is not enough truck for vitually any Montana. The diesel will haul it fine, but the 3/4 cannot handle the weight in the truck (PW, weight of passengers, hitch, cargo, etc)...assuming you want to stay within the GVWR for the truck.

We have a lat 2006 3400RL which we pull with a 2003 F250 SD Diesel LB 4WD. We are running right at Ford's GCVWR stated in the Operators Manual. However we are significantly over on "Payload" or "Pin Weight" so I added Firestone Air Bags on the rear. That leveled things out satisfactorily. Running around 2500 lbs pin weight depending on how well the load is distributed in the 3440RL. Did change from the rear OEM shocks to Bilsteins trying to avoid some of the bobbing on rough roads but with only minimal improvement. If I had it to do over I think I would now just go to a heavier overload springs. But have no experience with that to compare. No real problems with power of pulling through mountain passes. Like all of us I would liked to have twice as much braking capacity on the truck but that is not in the cards so I drive accordingly. Have learned to drive slower on downgrades, 45 MPH or so, and keep it there with momentary braking. Also drop down a gear on the Automatic transmission to add engine breaking. At higher average downhill speeds the brakes heat up much more and causes the engine RPM's to go over 2700. I don't care if I get to the destination a 1/2 later rather than way too soon.! :-) Hope this helps somehow.

thanks everybody, i don't know if i feel any better about the wt, but i now have an idea of what to expect. i am going to go for the air bags. i know this won't increase the wt i can tow, but it will probably make everything a little more stable.

Swanny, I've pulled a 3400 series with the same Chevy you have with the airbags installed for a few years now. No chucking, no bounce, no problems. If I had to do it all over again I wish I had a dually 3500 but the 2500 4x4 with Firestone bags has the suspension for my weekender needs. Now if I had a washer/dryer in the bedroom and all my cabinets full with a life's worth of treasures this would be quite a different response.

I tow an 08 Mountaineer 305SLA with an 2004 F350 SD PSD SB...........I really think I am at the max as far as the truck goes....I may be wrong but it just feels heavy.....I had SOB that was about 2000 lbs lighter and a couple feet shorter, never ever had any issues...I have done the weights and we are ok that way....as I said I just feel like the truck is working harder and lumbering somewhat...I have redistributed much as I can from the front toward the back and have cut toys etc to a minimum...it is not loaded by any means...

Pinweight on our 2007 3400RL is advertised at either 2100 or 1900 (I forgot which). Actual pinweight is 2860. Our 2005 F250 handled it just fine, with airbags to eliminate a one inch sag in the rear of the truck. This Dodge 3500 also handles the weight well and does so with no airbags, just the standard suspension. Both are single rear wheel. We've towed in excess of 100,000 miles with an F350, F250 and this Dodge, all single rear wheel. No problems at all.
