The Alamogordo experience

White Sands National Monument was very interesting. Spending too long in the dunes during bright sunlight can bring on snow blindness though. If you haven't been there, it is worth seeing.

We also made the side trip to Three Rivers to see the ancient petroglyphs. We have been to other sights to see them, but have never seen so many. Now I understand where graffiti comes from. Different tribes had different markings. Now different gangs have different symbols. I guess it is in the genes. Petroglyphs to graffiti, an evolutionary advance?????

Since Dianna retired from NASA work, we skipped the Aerospace History Museum. Alamogordo seems like a neat, clean desert city, about 4000 feet lower in elevation than the famed ski resort Village of Cloudcroft, less than 20 miles away. Next we will take in Oliver Lee Memorial Park before leaving Saturday for Albuquerque.

By-the-way, Edgington Rd RV Park is a neat little park with few amenities. John, the owner, is very friendly and helpful. It is a Passport America park. $15 a day with 50 amp service and no limit to PA days ain't bad.

Ah, yes, did that trip..really nice,, The climb out of Alamogordo on 54 then 70 over to Rosewell with our 05 V-10 is what caused us to get the Diesel on our return home. Helen drove that segment and kept whipping the truck yelling "go mule go' on some of those hills.

Stiles, do you have reservations for Abuquerque? With The Rally going on I heard that the campgrounds are pretty full, although a lot will be moving to festival grounds today. We are on our way there this morning from Santa Fe.

Hey Stiles glad you enjoyed the Alamogordo area. I grew up there and still have family and friends there. We were to be down there Wed but our truck went out 40 miles west of Carizozo so had to be towed back to Socorro. Our truck is at Ford, with no estimate on when it will be fixed - we think it is the injectors, egr valve and possible turbo. We are at the RV park. I got a ride back to Albuq and got our SUV. Tomorrow we are loading it up, storing the Montana and heading home sometime tomorrow. Will return when they get the truck fixed.

Anyone in Albuquerque please don't hesitate to give us a call and we will see about getting together. Our number is 505-340-3377.

Safe travels,
Lorraine
