Thinking of upgrading to smart phone = got IPhone

Which one would you recommend and what service provider do you use.
Thanks for your input.

EDIT _ 3/9/12 - Thanks to all the input. I went with the IPhone 4S. Now cleaning up the contacts and learning ITunes.

I have Verizon as my provider for many years I started in 1993 but it wasnt verizon then it was between LA Celluar and this one I have now. as for the phone I use the Black Berry Bold, because I can merge with Microsoft Office, word, power point, excel, outlook, and outlook express. I know that the I phone and droids can open them if you buy the app for each but I dont feel like buying them when it is a stock item for BB users. I also get Black Berry Messenger which droids dont get. thats BB to BB only free at no charge to your texting fees, that you will pay when you have exceeded your minuts.
you should go to the consumers union web site and look up your seliction it will be helpful.
Good luck.
Don

Same here- Verizon and a Motorola Droid. Only problem I had was that my smart phone was smarter than me when I first got it.

Andriod on an LG with Verizon. There are probably better updates than my year old unit. I like it.

AT&T and IPhone. Can talk and surf at the same time. With 4Gb and the IPhone as a hot spot, wife and I can be connected at the same time. Used system last month (Feb) checking emails twice a day, checking Yahoo news, banking, etc and only used a little over 1gb of the 4gb alloted.
Good Luck

John, we check the coverage area's for all three and settled on Verizon a couple of years ago. Sprint won't even work at our stick house so it was out right away. AT&T uses the Verizon network in many areas we go so we decided to narrow it down to only one customer service group to complain to if necessary. We have 2 Iphones, an ipad and a Mac and for the stick house, truck and rig we use a cradlepoint router and mellinicom usb device that uses the Verizon network for our internet. We have been very happy with that set up and would recommend it to others. And yes, we have been known to be using all four computers at once without a problem.

Hi John,
We have Verizon and I Phones and are very satisfied. We even use them as motom when traveling, although we rarely need any thing more than the phone itself. If we were as smart as the phone, we probably would not need anything else. Larry

John - We use Verizon and have a Motorola Droid X2 and are really pleased with it. We have had Verizon since it was Cellular One and Air Touch in about 1993 and really appreciate the service and the Droid is the Cat's A**

We have an Android (purchased at Costco last summer) and use Verizon and are pretty happy with it. Never had a cell phone before and now refer to it as our life line Not sure how to live without it!

In the area of PA where we live (not a fulltimer) ATT had the best coverage and you can use Internet and voice at the same time. My I Phone has organized and simplified my life immensely. The full version of outlook does allow email syncing, and which means when you are on the road and read, organize, and delete emails it does the same on your main computer. Very powerful for me.

Verizon wireless, 1 Droid 4G LG Samsumg and 2 cell phones with unlimited minutes, (stickhouse number on one cell phone at $18.36 per month, will drop that number later this year and get bill down a little),4G Hotspot with 5 gigabites available (used 3 last month) for Laptop & Nook Tablet, all communications in one bill at $255 per month. I believe this to be a high cost for communications, and when others are talking about their bills they are usually less. We use the Droid and our Garmin 465T together to navigate along with finding goods & services.

Motorola Droid - original version with Verizon, unlimited internet and when no wi-fi available on the road I tether the Droid to the laptop using PDANET for internet access. Verizon also gives 15% discount to active and retired military.

John,
Take a serious look at the iPhone 4S. You may want to watch the Keynote on the Apple Web site regarding the new iPad and stick with your present phone, but just take a look at the operating system and the differences between what a droid can do and an iPhone can do.

I have an older 2nd generation iPhone that my brother gave me. It is AT&T compatible but I do not have a Sim card in it. I can put the sim from my other AT&T into it and it works as a phone. However, without the sim card it functions in all other maners if WiFi is present, except as a stand alone telephone.

The new iPhone 4S is slicker than owl grease.

There are APPS for the iPad where it can be used as a phone. Kind of big to hold up to the ear, but nice sitting in the lap. hee hee!
