Wheel torque

Left the Jackson Rancheria Rally yesterday and took the Big Sky with G614 tires to Les Schwabs Tire to get my wheel bearings packed. Had them check pressure in the G614 tires and set them to 110 lbs. They said they torqued the 8 lug wheels to 140 lbs. What torque do you use on the G614 8 lug wheel?

If you have the Dexter 7,000 lb axles with 1/2 inch studs, the torque is 120 lb ft, no more.

I have Dexter 7k axles, they are 8 stud on 6.5" centers. Studs are 9\16" and should be torqued to min 120#. I don't think the 8 stud hub came with 1\2" studs, they did on the smaller axles ie: 6k axles. Mine are torgued to 120#. I check them before each trip and have never found one stud nut loose.

Mine are 7,000 Dexters with 8 stud 6.5 centers with 1/2 " studs. I'm sure of this because I have bought and installed new lug nuts.

Same here. 1/2" studs and 120# wouldn't go higher than that. Never had one work loose, but still check them before every long trip.

When I had Les Schwab put tire on my 2007 3400RL I told them what I wanted them to torque my lugs nuts to before they changed the tires. I also told them how to jack it up, and NOT to jack on the axles. I torque to 110 lbs.

OK, I give up. I thought and thought but couldn't understand why you would have them to torque your lug nuts BEFORE they changed the tires. They just had to remove them after they torqued them!

Correct Tq is 120 ft lbs. In 3 steps. 80, 100, 120. In a criss-cross pattern.

9/16" stud is 140-150FT LBS according to the new keystone manual (13/16 socket)
1/2" stud is 110-120FT LBS (7/8 socket)
