RECALL

Just got a recall notice in the mail.
You might want to check the NORCOLD website and scroll down to RECALLS.
There is a lot of refrigerator recalls out there.

It would have been nice if they given a date of manufacture range . .

The recall site says 1997 to 2010, for OEM installations.

wonder if that is the old recall for the heat sensor installation. Pretty old if it is. Our recall was installed in 2010 on our old unit. An important one however to be taken care of. There has been a class action settlement re that issue. Received a letter on it last week. Did not apply to us because we had the recall work done at no cost.

I haven't received a recall notice, but did receive a notice of class action.

Ours was recalled and repaired in the spring of 2011 and then, because they lost the record that they fixed it, they sent someone out to fix it again.

I got the recall information when I bought mine 3 years ago. The class-action notice came last week. My dealer insists they did the recall repair, but there is no documentation of it in my paperwork.

This recall claims that the boiler tubes can corrode and leak flammable gas.
Got my attention.

Leaking cooling units can happen for a lot of reasons. Strong ammonia smell and yellow residue at the back of the fridge is your warning to power down. Temp control of a leaking fridge should be really erratic and a warning something not right. I keep a temperature sender in my fridge all the time so that I can glance at the base unit readout to track what is going on. MY fridge, since I corrected install errors tracks extremely well. Have it set to maintain 38f now and it has been there for more than two weeks without change. John
