Bedroom reading light push on-off switch

As far as I can tell the the push on-off switch for one of the bedroom reading light fixtures is about gone. Took the light off the outer wall, messed with it and it will come on, but when pushed off, it just stays off till I mess with the wires on the back of the switch and then they come on. Right now just leaving it on. Anyone got a link for a replacement switch and possible directions for replacing same. Thanks, Tim

I believe you can get them at most hardware stores.

As Dick says, common at hardware stores, also radio shack. Just take the old one with you as they come in a couple of different diameters. Found mine at a Westlake/Ace. Jim

I checked Lowes and Autozone yesterday, but they had none. Will check HD and CW when we get back home on Wednesday for a replacement. In the meantime I'll pull it off the wall and get all the data from the rear of the fixture and measure the diameter of the switch port in the fixture itself. No hurry since DW starts a chemo/radiation/chemo cycle on the 18th for her cancer and don't expect we will get back down to the coast and the camper for at least 4 months.

You might also check Radio Shack.

I had a hard time finding replacement lamp pushbuttons anywhere locally and ended up ordering some from an online lamp repair shop. Better quality than the one I had to replace.

We had a switch fail on the light over the stove. We replaced the entire fixture with one from Camping World. (Or from most other RV centers, if you prefer) The new fixture is better than the original because it has a two way switch that allow you to turn on only one or both of the bulbs, a feature not available on the original.

That's handy. Thanks for the tip. Will be looking for one of those when I have to replace one.

Found a replacement switch at the local CW today. Will put it on this March when we go back down to the coast. Will ask for instructions on what to turn off prior to putting the new one in at that time.
