Cold Weather

We've been on the road for several months and now are down south in Texas... I would like to spend next week in Oklahoma but the weather will be a little cold... Lows look like about 28 and high in 40's... Do you think I need to winterized for that week? When we leave there, we are headed for Arizona... We have a 2015 291RLT Mountaineer and has the High Mountain package which I guess is just the comfort stuff and nothing to do with insulation on the tanks... Thanks for any answers... Larry G...

Nope. Be sure the heat warms up the basement and under side. You will go through a bunch of propane and if you can augment with electric heat. But, it is doable.

You'll be fine. Just make sure you use the furnace for heat occasionally so that the underbelly stays warm and if you don't have a heated hose, disconnect and drain it at night.

Will you be in the rig during the cold temperatures or are you leaving it behind? If you are in it, why would there be a need for winterizing?

Visiting brother for a week... We will be staying in the house, but RV will be parked there.. Looks like as long as I keep some heat in it, we should be ok for a week... Thanks y'all...

We have survived living in our Big Sky when the overnight temps fell into the teens and daytime in the 20's. We burned through a 30 lb. tank of propane in a day and a half. Inside comfort was normal. No additional clothing or bedding was necessary to stay warm.

Even if leaving your rig parked if it is only going below freezing even the 20's at night but is warming up to 40's or more it will be fine. I rarely winterize my rig here in Texas because even though we get some 20 degree nights it usually warms up in the day time. For the rare times it does not get above freezing in the day time we just turn on the funace and set it to 50 and that is enough to prevent any freezing.
