Here we go with another water heater question
We can't get the water heater to work on electric. We just got our coach back from Keystone. We hooked up at a campground and turned the electric water heater switch on. About an hour later we turned on the hot water and got air pressure for a couple minutes before the water flowed, then it was cold. We didn't realize that Keystone drained the tank. We attempted to operate the reset button outside, but it seems like it is frozen, no movement at all. Fuses and breakers are all ok. We have hot water on propane.
Do we need to check anything else?
If the reset button is inoperative, can that be replaced by someone who does not possess a PHD in tools?

It sounds like a new heating element is in order to me.
It’s really easy to burn one up. If there wasn’t any water in it and you turned on the heater for hot water then you can bet the element is gone. Not a difficult repair and you can get them and most any RV place.

Bill is probably right, but make sure that Keystone didn't turn off the small black switch located next to the water heater outside.

Agreed!
Also check the outside switch behind the water heater panel as Dick said. Best of luck!

That switch was off. Thought it was off for electric and on for gas? Do I have that backwards?

Small black switch inside the outside water heater compartment should be on for electric heating.

It doesn't matter for propane.

We turned the propane off last night. The hot water definitely cooled over night. The outside switch is now on. We will see in a few minutes whether we have electric hot water.

Glad that it was only the switch!

Us too! Also found that Keystone turned off the water to the washing machine. All is now right with the world, at least our Big Sky world.
