Sorry for such a heavy topic around Christmas..
But, I got to ask:
I told Sue to never wash the clear glass coffee container in our Mr. Coffee. She likes to scrub it and get it super clean.
Somewhere in my cob-web crumbling memory banks I have the whole subject lit with a small Red light. Not to clean it, just rinse it out.
Also, we like flavored Hazelnut Folgers. What do you like to drink, and am I ...a little more nuts than I usually am, on the clean coffee holder deal..??

I wouldn't say "nuts" but maybe it gives you a little more flavor in your hazel nuts!!
we use the hazel nut whole bean in a washed pot.... you know,to each their own :-0

I seem to recall that tea pots should only be rinsed. We switched to a Keurig coffee maker to help me cut back on coffee. Makes one cup at a time, no unused coffee to throw out and no clean up required. If you have a favorite, there is a "My K-cup" module that can be used.
I used to clean the pot in the old machine though

Ozz, I used to work part time in a pizza place and all we did was put crushed ice in the coffee pot and swirl it around a few times. At home I wash the pot but not every day.

I remember having a 1st Sgt that you dare not wash his coffee pot. The dang thing looked like he changed oil with it....

At our restaurant the pots are washed, rinsed and sanitized every single night.

i live way too far south to adulterate my dark roast
no sugar, no milk
if your carafe is anything other than aluminum, i say wash it, but rinse it well
if its aluminum, rinse only to 'coat' or 'stain' with coffee to keep aluminum from leaching into coffee.
this i learned from my cajun-french ancestors
porcelain-enameled drip pots were washed, aluminum drip pots were only rinsed.
this came at a time before anyone was concerned with the effects of consuming metal
it was all about the taste that the aluminum imparted on the coffee
i take it a step further and do a final rinse with filtered water

No No never wash the coffee pot, maybe just rinse it out, kinda like the old cast iron fry pan, just wipe it down with paper towel, but never wash it.
Now for the late afternoon drink try a shot of Marshmello vodka and a can of root beer

I love my Folgers, but I do not put nuts in mine. I have always rinsed out my cup and pot.

I like regular coffee and prefer decaf. I usually add just a tad bit of cream. I don’t like the gourmet coffees.

I used to frequent a small diner that closed once a year to clean and polish the kitchen- I learned quickly to avoid that diner for at least a week after their annual cleanup because the coffee was not palatible- So I vote for minimal cleaning of the coffee pot- JMHO- Don

I run a 50/50 vinegar to water solution thru the maker and pot and let sit 20 minutes and then run 2 full clean pots thru and then it is clean....
I prefer my DD dark roast, use to be Folgers....

1st ozz ex navy coffee must hold up a spoon
2nd i don't know what diane does with the breakfast dishes
3rd we use a coleman percolator so i'm never out of gas
4th coctails start whenever and i'll have whaterer your serving

At home we go through one pot a day, at the tire store it's 4 to 6 pots every day. The pots are rinsed and dried after each filling but never washed with soapy water. I do use a solution of bleach and water on the outside of the tire store pot every few days because there are so many hands on it. I use 4 heaping scoops of Folgers House Blend Medium Roast for a 12 cup pot. There are several folks in town that come in just for a cup of coffee, they claim it's the best in town. I don't know if that means I make good coffee or that the other places in town have bad coffee.

I was asked by my Dr. what kind of coffee I drank and I told him Maxwell House. He shook his head and said do you know where the majority of coffee is grown? I naturally said South America and he shook his head no and said no its Viet Nam. Grown in the fields where all that Agent Orange was in the Viet Nam war. He said get true Colombian coffee, you don't need anymore of that agent orange stuff, you already have plenty.
I no longer drink Maxwell House!!
