Here is a picture of my Short Stop fuses before I relocated them. The Battery is on the left hand side of the picture.

The fuse holder on the orange line is the "in line" fuse to the landing gear motor. Looking more closely at the diagram either short stop fuse "blowing" should not prevent power from getting to the landing gear motor since the current path to the orange line does not pass through the connective part of either fuse.

Nice explanation and pics Bill, but we should probably stop calling those resettable devices fuses. Thats like calling your house circuit breaker panel a fuse box, as I doubt most of you still have fuses in your house system.

Fuses are destructive - one time use devices.

The resettable types shown in your picture are Shortstop Circuit Breakers.
The orange wire has the fuse for the landing gear as you have shown.

Brad,
I agree with your definitions but the ones I had in my unit were "fuses". (I believe) - They never reset on their own and there was no obvious way to manually reset it, so for me they have been 'one time use devices' - How do you reset them?

Bill,

Now you got me thinking again as I don't have the unit in front of me, but the breakers are heat activated and reset automatically when they cool. If they don't reset, then I would assume they failed.

I recognized them by sight as breakers. I could be wrong, but I have never seen a fuse like that.

Thanks Jack, what I am talking about is what I show in my picture and Brad posted a link to. They probably are breakers vice fuses and mine either failed or I didn't know to wait for them to reset and since there was no obvious way to manually reset them I assumed they had to be fuses......I know what happens when one assumes......

When my landing gear motor became unreliable and then stopped working I found it was caused by the brushes in the motor that were sticking in their guides and so not contacting the armature. I sanded the brushes and this solved the problem. The brushes can be accessed by carefully removing the rear cover of the motor.
