Handle by Door

Has anyone replaced the rubber piece and/or fold-out handle by the door? The rubber piece on ours has torn. It's such a tight fit that I'm thinking that the entire handle would have to be ordered. Thanks!

Ours started to tear and I just wrapped it with one layer of black Gorilla tape. You can get it to slide if you grab each end and push toward the center. It acts like a Chinese finger trap but it can be moved. I haven't found any source for the neoprene rubber yet but I always check when visiting RV stores. Good Luck... Dave

I carefully wrapped it with a layer of electral tape. It`s been over a year and still looks good.

The handle should come off easily ... I'm wondering if the insulation tubes like they encase A/C lines would be a tight fit??? It feels about the same as far as density and can be bought at any A/C service company.
Helmick: doesn't the tape get a little "sticky" in the summer sun?

Just a thought. They make some pretty nice stuff to wrap bicycle handle bars. Some of it is padded. Might be worth a look.

I found the wrap somewhere for mine and replaced the torn one. It can be done and they do make a replacement wrap.....

We did a spiral wrap with some 2" wide anti skid tape from the hardware store. Works and looks great.

One of the most durable products you could put on this is a peice of heat shrink tubing that you can get at any electrical supply house. Buy a peice slightly larger than the diameter of the handle and take a hair dryer and shrink it on.
