Not Just Chinese Tires that Pop

It's not just the chinese tires that pop without warning, the chinese valve stems do too. Discount tire is recalling zillions of Dill valve stems installed by them:

Discount Tire Recall

Safety Probe

I apologize for duplicating this if somebody already posted it, as I didn't see it. We just got notice today for our Expedition. Fortunately our pressure sensors are built into the stems so they didn't replace them when we got tires.

Thanks for the warning Brad, I got new tires for the Montana at Discount last summer, I guess I'll have to give them a call.

Good info Brad....Thanks for the heads up. I checked the list of stores and Texas was not on the list that sold the valve stems. I bought tires from Discount Tire for the Expedition in December, assume I am OK unless I get a recall letter.

What is the break point for "low pressure?" I emailed Discount Tire after reading Brad's post. I can't tell from the advisory letter at that site whether the recall affects only the rubber stems or also the steel stems. In May I had two tires mounted and new steel valve stems installed by Discount Tire in Santa Fe, NM. And New Mexico is on the list.
