Tornado Alley Meet & Greet(7Jul)

Several of us are considering a Kansas City area get-together. It looks like the time frame will be late June thru late July. This is (in my thinking) a chance for the local MOCers to get acquainted. We, I believe, would welcome anyone that wanted to join in. If all attendees are local, it may just be an evening/all day meeting sans trailers (fuel saving measure) or if this explodes into something larger, decisions will have to be made! I have never even attended a rally before so am totally open to suggestions, help, or direction.
This idea was born as a result of meeting Stiles and Dianna Watson. Stiles knows of several local MOCers and even suggested the name. I was going to post this last night but had to unplug the computer due to, what else, a severe thunderstorm/tornado watch. Resopnse to this thread will be monitored daily and my e-mail closely watched. Thanks for looking in. Bob Smith (ggranch)

Bob, as mentioned in our emails, we are interested.

Getting together somewhere for dinner is a good idea if it's just a few of us. If more and we want to get together in an rv park, that's fine, too.

To me, the main purpose is to meet other members and get to know each other. I really don't care much about what we do other than maybe a potluck and a meet and greet or something like that. There's lots to do in the KC area so tours could be arranged if someone wants to do that. Or folks could go off and do those things on their own or in small groups or whatever. Whatever you come up with is fine with me.

Thanks for coming up with this.

Hi everyone! I'm new at this, so I don't know if my message will get through. I ready about your "tornado alley" get together. We'd love to join you, but I'm not sure we can make it in July. We are traveling across country (from AZ to KY) and will be in Branson, MO the first week in July. Any chance y'all would want to go to Branson?

We would be interested in a get together in KC--depends on the date.

Sue and I will love to meet some new folks, and see folks we have met already. We live about 3 miles North of the River. I suggest Worlds of Fun Campground for a RV location. We would not be bringing the Monte, as we are so close, but will meet you. The Casinos are within a few miles of the campground.

Well, it looks like a "Meet & Greet" is the popular opinion. Steve Reigle will be at the Campus RV Park in Independence, Mo, so any one that wants to travel in, this may be a good thing to look into. If all of my respondents will e-mail or post dates that are "NOT" good for them between 20 JUN 08 and 20 JUL 08 I/we will choose a date and place to get together. Right now, the 24th and 26th of June are not good for me. I think we should also avoid the holiday week-end. Also, if you have a place in mind (Ozz voted for tha Ameristar Casino) list that too.

Thanks Bob

Since we also will be close we'll probably not bring the Montana, either (already paid up for our KC stay) but we sure can come over and visit.

As for dates, Bob, I'll email you. We have some firm commitments and some not so firm, like which weekend will be our granddaughters' birthday celebrations. On the other hand, that's just a few hours out of the weekend so we could spend the rest of the time at the get together.

we too would like to participate in a local meet and greet, but we are starting on a 5 week trip in the Monty mid June and therefore won't be around when you all get together. Maybe next time.

Aw, shucks, Bruce and Janette. I would have liked to meet you two. But maybe another time or place.

I didn't realize you are from Grain Valley. We're in Indpendence twice each year for a month or so each time. So we will have another opportunity.

Enjoy your five week trip!

We would be interested in a meet and greet. We are pulling out for 4 weeks to Ft. Sill OK and won't be back in the area until the 19th of July. If the dates don't work out, I'm here in Ft. Riley for another year so we can try again.

Linda and I would enjoy the oppurtunity to meet fellow Montana owners. We won't be pulling the Montana as we are located right here in KC. Let us know the date, time, and location.

July 18-21 would not be good for us--most any other time would be good. I have a sister that lives in KC so we may just come and visit and not bring the 5er.

How does July 7 sit with everyone. So far I haven't recieved any thing that would preclude this date. It is a Monday, now if we/I can find a place for approx. 10/12 people. I believe an evening get-together for visiting and dining would be the ticket. Maybe 6-10 PM. We will be over in Kansas for the next 4 days getting some work done on the 5er and checking out Melvern Lake outlet park (COE with 89 full hook-ups). Happy camping everyone, be back on-line Saturday. Bob

We're free on the 7th as far as I know.

Melvern Outlet is a decent place, or was when we last were there a few years ago. Enjoy.

Sue and I are in. Maybe I could get Ameristar to kick in a discounted dinner package at the Buffet for us?? I will look into it, if anyone is interested, they have an extremely large enclosed building with 7 or 8 eateries including the buffet. World Famous Bryant's BBQ is even in there. (An ice cream shoppe also)

TANSTAAFL...........
Who said that there ain't no such thing as a free lunch?

Our Tornado Alley Rally will have one, at the Buffet at Ameristar, on or about the 7th of July.

No strings attached....

TANSTAAFL was a favorite rejoinder of Milton Friedman, the Nobel Prize–winning former University of Chicago professor

We are free on the 7th. Look forward to getting together. Free lunch makes it even better. (Thanks Ozz)

We will let you know if we can make it. Not sure at this time. It would be a good way to celebrate Paul's B-day (July 6)--not saying which one but it ends with a "0"
