Same here, as long as the LT can carry the load. The LT size will be 235/85R16...slightly different from the ST tire.

It would be easier to answer your question if we knew what the weight of your unit is. But the specs make it look like you max out at about 12K.

So you should have 6K axles. I just put BF Goodrich Commercial TA's on my 6K axles back in March, so far so good.

We use Bridgestone Duravis R250 tires. Haven't found any that were better. As others have said, use LT tires.

We have used Firestone Transforce LT tires for years. Bit larger than what comes on the unit, but sufficient clearance.

I have a similar size/weight to you. Installed Michelin XPS Ribs 5 yrs and 17,000 miles ago. Great tires. Still look nearly new with little wear and no weather checking.

If you want an ST, then the Maxxis 8008 is a recommendation. They are on my list as my next tire all around the trailer.

Art I noticed you mentioned the Maxxis 8008 tires as your next replacement tire. Not sure if you are aware but Maxxis started out in Tiawan in 1967, they have plants in different countries by the sounds of it, but you might be interested in this post on another forum regarding where the US ones may be manufactured.

The tire has the same rating as the Goodyear Marathons and may or may not be a better tire. Just thought you might be interested. My belief is that all large 5th wheels should have "G" rated tires but the lighter ones will do well with the "E" rated tires.

I will give my positive response for the Maxxis tires. I had them on my former 5th wheel with no problems and I put a lot of miles on them. I have several friends that also are very pleased with them.
They actually have a few hundred pounds more carrying capacity. The Maxxis are 80 profile instead of 85.
I'm sure the G rated Goodyears are good but at that price they should be. They just wouldn't be in my budget.

Actually the Maxxis and Marathons are rated exactly the same at 3420 lbs at 80psi. That is on the 235/80R16, don't see that either of them make an 85 profile. I actually have no opinion on the Maxxis, I was just passing on some information I found on another forum.

I am not promoting Goodyear G614's by any means, I just think on the heavy 5ers we need a G rated tire, there are other ones out there. The Goodyear G614's are out of my price range as well.

I am still running my Marathons, I am not overweight and only have about 8000 miles on them, they still look good but I keep a close eye on them, although I don't think any more than I would do with any other tire on a trailer, I always run them at 80psi.

Overweight, under-inflation and speed are the true tire killers no matter where they are made.

I'm picking Maxxis because side by side comparisons show the Maxxis to be a better heavier E-rated tire with suitable ratings. I think it's the manufacturing process, the auditing that goes on and the overall quality procedures that make the best tire no matter where they're made.

We sure don't hear much about an F rated tire and most are jumping to G-rated.

I prefer to use an Maxxis ST, because of their good feedback. Since I only need 3,000 lb rated tires and Maxxis are rated over 3,400 and I don't full-time, I'll be happy. While an LT means I can probably drive over 65 mph, I don't ever go that fast even on a downhill and don't pass at all since we are NEVER in a hurry.

What are the speed ratings on that Maxxis tire vs the speed rating on the Marathon?

The speed rating is the same on both tires at 65 mph, the Maxxis 8008 is also an ST tire. The Marathon weighs 34 lbs could not find the weight on the maxxis.

They might be a very good tire, I have no experience or opinion on them.
