Mountaineer 345DBQ - opinions?
Hello all,
We are currently full-timing and looking to upgrade to a fifth wheel from our 25' Zeppelin TT. So far we have been considering bunk house models (3 kids) or converting the garage of a toy hauler to a bunk room.
We have located several used 345DBQ bunk models. From searching other forums, it sounds like people generally have the 'typical' issues. I did also find reference to a problem the rear slide outs experiencing issues when moving the RV.
I would love to hear from anyone in this model and your experiences.
Thanks!

I have a 2011 345DBQ. We purchased it new last year. We have had no problems with either of the rear slides. However, the 2011 model went to the hydraulic system. We have two kids that absolutely love the bunk room with their entertainment center. We love this set up because we can just close the door and not look at their mess until its time to leave. Also like that we can leave their beds made up the whole time we are parked. Also, the 2011 model comes with two queen sleeper couches under the two bunks and the entertainment center/closets are flush on the back wall. I like this change also, because it gives them more room. With all that being said, we now have a 4 wheeler that we want to take with us and would probably go with one of the toy haulers if we had it to do over again. But, we do love the 345DBQ.

Thanks! What was the system before hydraulics?
Also, are there any common areas to check for water leaks?

Toy haulers are wonderful, but, do check to see if there is heating and cooling back there. Some older units did not have one or both systems, not that you cannot "fix" it, just a heads up on something to check on.

Not exactly sure what the system was, but we looked at a 2010 and a 2011 and the salesman said that the slide system changed to allow the living room slide to open up more. This was clearly evident when comparing the two side by side. As far as common areas to check for water leaks, I don't know yet. We had it winterized and stored in October, so this next spring I will find out. I will let my dealer do the de-winterization and check for leaks.

We have a 345DBQ, had it for nearly 2 years. We have 2 kids, but we don't full-time. We are very happy with the 5er, in fact I am itching to get away as soon as I can this year! Our model must be before the entertainment center was moved to the rear wall, ours is between the door to the kids room and the door to their bathroom. I have no problems with the rig. We would prefer a little more kitchen storage, but we make do.
My wife has seen the front living room layout and loves that - so as soon as the kids are gone we will likely move to that - for right now the DBQ is great.
