3455SA FIREPLACE QUESTION
For those of you with a 3455SA and a fireplace, what is the make and model of your fireplace insert? We originally ordered ours without the fireplace but have been thinking lately about putting one in. Thanks in advance.

Thank you both for your replies. I am going to start shopping for one. One other question for dwstockman; at the back of the fireplace where it faces the TV is it just the back of the fireplace facing the wall/TV or is there a piece of wood there? Currently on ours we have a piece of wood that makes the back of the cabinet but it can easily be removed. Thanks again.

Jack,
I wish I could help you but our trailer is still in storage and unfortunately will remain there until later this month.
Maybe one of the other 3455 owners can answer your question.

Thanks Don. I will see if someone else replies with an answer. When I pick up our rig from the repair shop I will also look at a 3455SA they have at the dealer. I have been searching the internet for the past couple days and have not been able to find the Dimplex BF8000ST....I did find a Dimplex DF2608 which seems to be the same dimensions that 7.3Ford passed along in his post at $599 with free shipping.

Jack,
Our new 3400RL came with the fireplace. I wanted another satellite feed so the dealer's Tech guy removed the fireplace. It is only held there by 4 screws. There isn't anything behind the fireplace but the wall of the slide. The tech drilled a hole through the wall for the second satellite feed. Then ran the cable up to the cabinet above the TV.

Jack, there is nothing between the TV and the fireplace. The fireplace is like a space heater rated at 1875 Watts. Back of firebox does not get hot, fan blows on heating element which is at the top of the unit.

John,
Thanks.....I was concerned about the front or the TV getting hot if it is retracted and the fireplace is on. The info you provided answers that question .

Hi Jack & Dave,
For your info my fireplace is also the BF8000st in the 3400rl, The installation Manuel states that it needs 2" of air space under it DO Not iinstall on floor or Carpet,
If that helps in your measuring for it.
P.S, I got my Mexican window installed and believe it or not the thing doesn't leak in this North Island rain. Ha Ha.

On my rig, there is a thin mantle above the fireplace and below the television that protrudes about 4" and is the width of the fireplace. I don't know if you currently have that or if you'll need one, or maybe it comes with the framing of the fireplace but it does seem to deflect some of the heat away from the television. I'm not sure it's really necessary to have because the fireplace blows the heated air out into the room and would mostly miss the tele anyway.
I just wanted to mention this in case someone else knows this is a concern or requirement.

I also have a fireplace under my tv. I the beginning my unit world turn it's self off after a few minutes. I guest it was getting hot and the safety switch was shutting it down. So for more ventilation i drilled 3 two inch round holes under and behind the tv out of site. Still shut off. I called dimplex and found out I did need or air, but through their vent on bottom of unit. They sent new piece and it worked. all that said, no heat comes through the holes i cut to the tv area. Make sure you have an air space 2" under the unit.

Thanks all. Although our rig is still at the shop, I have been looking at the installation instructions for the fireplace and have taken note of the space needed at the bottom. The instructions state there are feet/spacers under the unit and to ensure it rests on these to provide proper air circulation.

Rick,
We're glad you made it back home safely and that you now have your "Mexican Stained Glass" installed. Glad it doesn't leak. We have had a couple of good rains here too and no leaks Guess we must have done it right. We will have to make another trip out to the "Saloon" in the middle of the desert next year Say hi to Mocha for us.
Take care and travel safe,
Jack

If you do a search on the MOC, Bill & Donna added a fireplace and has step by step pictures of the process. He also got one from Lowes/Home DePo for half the cost. We did the same process as he did and it worked out great! If you go under the Additions and Improvements do a search and type in "Fireplace Installation Complete" it should come up. (If I knew how to attach it here I would) It looks like a factory job if not better.
If you get one from Lowes/Home DePo in the cabinet you can use the cabinet pieces to finsh off the outside. You will need to sand down the cabinet pieces and restained them to match your oak color inside the Montana. I have pictures of ours done but we have a 2955. We just measured the place we where putting it in and got one to fit the space we had. Depth and Width. The instructions on the Moc. will give you more detail. We have less than $250.00 in ours.
You may have some difficulty finding one at a store since it is a seasonal item but I am sure you could order one.

When you order your Dimplex be aware that not all models come with a remote. Ours didn't.

Anyone smell burning from vent of fireplace. Mine also is the BF8000ST and was an original factory install. We have been using the fireplace to supplement the furnace all winter long and up until yesterday, it has worked flawlessly. Now we have a burning smell, not the type you might smell after the unit was been off for several months and now the dust is burning. I've left an email with Dimplex, and don't know when they will return with an answer.
Thanks in advance.
Steve
