Upgraded to Dometic 310 and added a bidet.

Got my new 2018 3950BR a few weeks ago. I was not a fan of the Thetford toilet it came with so yesterday I replaced it with a Dometic 310 and installed a bidet.

Happy happy!

Bierp,

Not sure I would have owned up to a bidet? What happens in the head should stay in the head.

Hehe.

Once you've used the pressure washer, nothing else will do. Smearing is for heathens!

Just picked up a 320. They are giving us TP for a year.

I think I may have found a use for may old power washer.

Should have spent the bidet money on upgrading to a 320 instead.

Isn't that the purpose of a bidet in the first place?

Yeah, I hmm'd and haw'd about going with the 320. With this floorplan, the bathroom space is pretty tight and I was concerned that the extra 3 inches would make it a bit awkward exiting the shower. Second guessing myself on that one already, but at least the bidet is awesome.

I once had a college girl leading a tour at the Glensheen mansion in Duluth, MN explain to me what a Bidet was! (I knew but wanted her to explain it to the group) She was on to me and did a good job handling it without turning red! The red was all over my arm after my wife got through quietly persuading me to abandon my line of questioning!

You obviously don’t spend much time in Colorado. The tap water out here is just above freezing. Talk about a wakeup call!

It’s a small stream at whatever water pressure your rig generates. I usually empty the bowl a time or two during use, but probably not much more than I would with paper.

To be fair, I don’t boondock, so water usage isn’t much of a concern for us.

Looks great! My wife has been all over me about installing a bidet. We are full-timers and rarely boondock either. It's the one thing she misses about a stick and brick house. Everyone I have talked to about it says they had to modify either the toilet or the bidet mounting bracket. Could you tell me if you had to modify anything? Also, at what point did you tap into the water?

Sorry if these questions seem basic but there is not a lot of info on this online. Any help would be appreciated!

My apologies for not replying earlier. There's no wifi or cell service at the Mt Rushmore KOA and we just did 8 days there. The Black Hills are spectacular. I had no idea.

For the bidet, I had to swap out the swivel mount coming out of the wall in the bathroom. Mine was PEX into a nylon swivel and that didn't want to play nicely with the brass pipe fittings everywhere else. I replaced that with a sharkbite brass end, ran that into a brass T-splitter and had sink/toilet plumbing lines out of that to the bidet (which comes with the correct line) and to the toilet, which required me to get a 1/2" FIP to 1/2" FIP line at Lowes. (Which is always just a little harder to find than you'd think, but they have them.) (Might have been Amazon now that I think about it, but I got it at Lowes the last time I did this.)

I also removed the plastic cover over the back plumbing on the Dometic 310. I didn't have to do this on my last 310, but that one came with a plastic seat which I replaced with a normal wooden seat. The newer 310 comes with a no-slam wooden seat, which I liked, but it seems to leave me slightly less wiggle room. The bidet needs to be mounted as far forward as possible, but it works wonderfully.

If you need links to any parts, let me know and I'll dig up what I can find.

Good luck!

Thanks for the info! I'm planning on tackling this over the winter. We picked up a camp host gig at a state park in N. California so I'll have time when the weather cools. Any links you have would be great but don't spend time collecting info. My install may be a bit different as we ended up purchasing a 5th wheel but it's not a Montana (don't tell anyone here, Haha). Big mistake. I keep up here though, great people and great info.

Glad you enjoyed Mt Rushmore. It's on our list but will have to wait for next summer.

This had been a desired addition for some time now and seeing someone else install one got me off the pot. Just plumbed a new Biobidet from Costco. Just need to install another GFI outlet tomorrow and test

Bidets are more exciting without a GFI.
