I found the list of serial #'s somewhere and our # was not on the list.
Don't remember where I found the list though.

Hey guys.....If you go to the dometic web site the have a spot on the home page that talks about the recall. It lets you put in your model and serial numbers and lets you know if you have a bad fridge....Hope this helps....DometicUSA.com....Mike

I did the phone thing when this first came out - I'm just trying to find out if anyone ever received their "package" of info or whatever they said they were sending out.

I thought mine was on the list (model number) so I called Dometic and left a message. Yesterday I logged onto their website and entered model number AND serial number and it came back as "Not involved in recall". I would suggest you try this if you can.

Thanks for the "heads-up" Mike...

I used Bills link and mine is affected. I am posting what come up.

Dometic Recall Information
Your refrigerator is affected
The information that you entered indicated that your refrigerator is affected by this voluntary recall. Please do the following:

Turn the refrigerator off immediately if you notice any of the following indicators:
Leakage or staining at the back of the refrigerator.
Yellow residue at the back or sides of the refrigerator.
The smell of ammonia.
Refrigerator does not properly cool.
Any unit found to have one or more of the characteristics mentioned above MUST be shut down and not operated until the unit is fixed and the recall rework administered.

For any unit that does fall within the recall population, but does not exhibit any of the four indicators mentioned in #1, consider the following:
Do not operate your refrigerator on LP gas. Switching to electric power lowers the incident rate associated with LP gas. If you own a 3-way refrigerator, running the unit on 12-volt power carries the least risk of all. 3-way refrigerators have model numbers that end in "3".

Dometic recommends that the unit not be operated on electric unless absolutely necessary until your unit has been serviced. If you choose to operate your unit on electric prior to the recall rework, you must inspect the burner area weekly for any of the indicators referenced in number 1 above.
Dometic recommends that you turn off the gas valve at the back of your refrigerator. DO NOT, however, attempt to disconnect the gas supply. For instructions on how to turn off the gas valve, click here.
If you must operate your refrigerator on electric, DO NOT operate your refrigerator while in transit or while asleep.
The rework kit will be available in early April 2007. At that time, call your preferred service center to set up an appointment. For help in locating a service center, or for the most up-to-date recall information, call 1-888-446-5157.

Please do not simply go to a dealer or service center without an appointment, since some facilities will not be performing this work, and the ones that are doing the work will need to obtain the appropriate parts from us.
If the repair facility fails or is unable to remedy this noncompliance without charge and within a reasonable time, please contact us at the number provided above so we can attempt to resolve the problem. You may also submit a written complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 400 Seventh Street, SW, Washington, DC 20590; or call the toll-free Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153); or go to http://www.safercar.gov.
If you previously paid to repair or replace a Dometic refrigerator that failed due to this defect, you can be reimbursed for your costs pursuant to Dometic´s Pre-Notification Reimbursement Program. To be eligible for reimbursement under that Program, you must complete and submit the required form and provide the necessary documentation. The Program and form can be obtained by calling 1-888-446-5157.

Nothing in my mail box yet! They sent me a letter stating I would receive a packet in the near future telling me what to do.
So how long is the near future???? Next year sometime.

This is what Good Sam just sent me today.

Summary:
Certain Dometic two–door refrigerators manufactured between April 1997 and May 2003 installed in certain recreational vehicles as original equipment and sold as aftermarket equipment. A fatigue crack may develop in the boiler tube which may release a sufficient amount of pressurized coolant solution into an area where an ignition source (gas flame) is present.

Remedy:
The vehicle manufacturers will notify owners of recreational vehicles that had the refrigerators installed as original equipment, and Dometic will notify owners of the aftermarket refrigerators. Dometic will install a secondary burner housing without charge. The recall is expected to begin between April and June 2007. Owners may contact Dometic at (888) 446–5157.Customers may contacts the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327–4236 or go to www.safercar.gov.

ahhh - you may be on to something. Take the first two letters of "next" and add the last two letters of "year" and you get "near". That may be it !!!
