Moab, Utah camprgound

We have 10-12 RV's going to Moab, UT for 5 days in October to see Arches National Park. Bob and I stayed at Slickrock Campground about 8 years ago and were impressed. We recommeded it to our FCRV group and have made reservations there. Over the weekend we heard from someone that camped there last year that Slickrock had dirty shower rooms and weeds and dirt to camp in. We have time to change our reservations if we need to. Has anyone stayed at Slickrock recently or can recommend somewhere else in or near Moab?

Our next stop will be at Cottonwood Campground in Durango,CO where we'll ride the Durango/Silverton narrow guage railroad. We haven't stayed there. Any help with that one?

Thanks,

Jean

We were in Moab this past July (04). We stayed at Moab Valley R.V. & Campark, 1773N. Highway 191 in Moab. The phone No. is 435-259-4469. This park is immaculate and one of the nicest campgrounds we've stayed at. It is on the small side so make reservations soon. Please note: Moab is not the place to be in the summer, the heat may be unbearable.

Thanks for the information. From their web site it does look like a nice place. However, it says they only allow 2 small or 1 medium sized dog (under 60 lbs). Guess that lets out 2 70 lb greyhounds . We did check with the Chamber of Commerce in Moab and actually called Slickrock ourselves. They assured us that although it is an older park, it is still nice. Sure hope so, we're staying with our original plans. I'll let you know how things go.

A follow up on our FCRV trip to Moab/Slickrock Campground in October. We had 8 units and 19 people traveling together from Northern Colorado. Arches, Canyonlands and Dead Horse Point were all great. The 7 1/2 mile hike was ALMOST more than any of us wanted, but we made it. It's an incredible area to visit.

Slickrock Campground in Moab turned out just fine. Sites are a little close, and you are parking on grass/weeds. But the people are very friendly and helpful. Showers, hot tub, and laundry were in good shape. There are lots of trees that would be a big plus in the summer. There were a lot of people there for 4-wheeling, but no problem with noise after hours, etc.

I wouldn't have any problem recommending Slickrock - IF you aren't expecting the Ritz.

Next fall looks like we're going to do Yellowstone. Someone else gets to plan that one.
