Landing gear Question

We just bought a 2003 3450RL and have a devil of a time getting the drop down portion of the landing gear to slide back into the upper part. The previous owner must have had stock in the WD-40 company since he seemed to use it everywhere causing a pretty good buildup of grime and crud. I dropped the inners all the way down, sprayed and scrubbed with a degreaser, and lubed with a dry lube (Jigaloo, my personal favorite). Still, no joy.
Any suggestions or do I replace the legs?
Thanx,
Jim

Is it on both legs? Besides them being bent I don't know what else it could be. Remove them completely from the unit and check for straightness. Others may be along soon who have had similar experiences.

I agree with Jimcol, question - before you removed all the build-up did you notice one spot that was halfway clean? That would be another indication of a bent situation. Also was you able to clean out the female part of the leg? Regardless either way looks like you are going to have to drop the inner leg out and do some checking.

Hope you can get this fixed without replacing the landing legs--get ready for sticker shock if you have to replace them both! It would make me want to check everything twice or three times before replacement. Good Luck!

Does the rig have JT strong-arms or another brand of bracing on the landing legs? If so, it could be them binding, and not the sliding part of the leg itself.

Before I changed to the Bigfoot Levelers, my front landing legs would appear to bind sometimes. So I sprayed with WD-40 and they seemed to get worse. So I sprayed them again and again. And the binding got worse. Until one of the techs at Keystone (I think it was Darrell) told me to clean the male portion of the legs with brake cleaner. Do it more than once. I did and the legs moved easily. It seems that those legs really don't work well with any oily substance on the metal. The only lubed part should be the gears.
