Good Heavens Tom! Your carvings captivate me. That duck is really something. I want to see some of your work up close someday. Keep em coming. JB

You are truly a talented artist. Just curious how long does it take you to carve and paint your work?

Collen, carving a songbird, making the feet, making the habitat, then painting takes about 2 days, a lifesize duck takes a week or more, the Pintail that is pictured about 2 weeks, but demands a much higher price then a songbird. The pintail is a commissioned piece somewhere around $375.00, where as the bluebird pictured is also a commissioned piece is $175.00, both these are sold.
Brad, Dory thank you and guess what movie I seen on tv the other night..."The Long, Long trailer!! lol, been a long time since I seen that one.

I bet you do! You probably have quite an eye for nice peices that will work for you and I bet you keep a stock as you collect them.
What a wonderful talent. I am glad to see they bring good prices, although it probably never seems enough for the kind of work it must take.

Tom,
Another curious question. What kind of wood do you carve on?

Colleen, I use basswood mostly, I do use some white pine well seasoned, and carve a few carvings from tupelo
But I like basswood the best. I also make the feet on all my birds from copper wire or brass tubing.
