Thanks, I'll be traveling to Branson at that time so if I come across a KOA on my way I just might take advantage of it.

Careful,
These are charity events and there is a strong suggestion that you donate. Last time we hit one our donation was close to the overnight charge. I didn't mind much since I stopped there anyway. However, if I had gone there expecting a freebee I might have been unhappy.

We have used the "free night" before and never had any pressure to donate. There is usually a silent auction or a raffle but nothing mandatory by any stretch. Last year we gave $5 for five raffle tickets and won the grand prize backpack/picnic basket worth about $75 so we got more than a free night. I'd recommend trying it, it's usually an early run for us for the year and works out as a little shakedown.

Yeah Dave, don't know where you've been traveling but we used the KOA free day for the past 2 years and never a hint of any kind of donation. KOA says "FREE" and it is "FREE".

There's a list of "participating KOAs" on their website. www.koa.com

If I read it right, you pay for one night and the "second" is free.

I guess I have become too cynical.. But That was my experience. I believe we were in southern NM at the time. If the situation is better, as most of you have said, I apologize to KOA.

Mac: Which KOA are you going to? Same one every year?
We usually just do the "shakedown" at Chatfield.....................closer and I can run to the "sticks" if I forgot something.

Clyde,

Not sure, last year we went to the one up by Ft Collins off of I-25. It was the same weekend as my mom's birthday and my sister lives in Cheyenne so she came down and my daughter who goes to school in Greeley came over. It was nice, kind of a mini family reunion. It's a nice campground but there is a feedlot kind of close and the wind was blowing the wrong direction a few times.

I thought about the one by Cripple Creek but we always take my mom up there over Memorial Day so I'll probably wait a couple weeks on that trip.

I got you beat for a close shakedown, we bought our unit late in the fall 05 and I was leaving town so I almost had to take it out that weekend. We went to the old KOA by Toma Road which is about 8 miles from my house. I really needed to check out the Monty though before I already had to put it in storage for the winter.

Let me know how that check valve thing works for you.
