New roof!

Well, my three month old 3400rl is getting a new roof. After that tree issue at Manatee Hammock I had it looked at and was told to put on a new roof, the rubber was torn in three places and there were a couple of dents in the metal roof edge. Suncoast RV in Cocoa will do the entire roof including replacing the metal, $5,658.22, thank God I have GEICO, the adjuster came to my house, got up on the roof, took pictures, and the check is on the way to me. No problems, no grief. GEICO came right up to plate and hit a home run. The Montana is at Suncoast RV and Jeff (body shop) assures me it will be as good as new.

Brings up a question. How thick is the roof membrane? How deep were your cuts?

WHOA!!! That is a major chunk of change. This is good reason to check my insurance policy.

The membrane isn't very thick, there were three good cuts and some pretty bad rub marks that weakened the membrane. All in all the damaged area was about eight feet long, thanks to you folks in the MOC I got my hands on some eternabond and managed to protect it from the weather, we had rain the next day. I was driving the rig so even with all of the mitigating factors, the fault was mine. It would have been nice if the fellow campers who were standing right by the tree watching the whole thing, had yelled "stop".

Sad to say, the good samaritans that try to help us jockey into our site normally disappear when we get too close to trees. Found that out the hard way this fall. No holes, but about a two foot rub. I've got the eternabond but haven't had the time to get up on the roof and install it. Maybe tomorrow if it doesn't rain.

I picked it up on Friday to go to Orlando, it looks better than when it was delivered new.
