Low point drain?

Has anyone changed their low point drains to a valve of some type? Its a pain to take the caps off when you winterize. I know you can usually find what you need at Home Depot. I was wondering what you need to make the transition. I am a electrician not a plumber. thanks Jack.

I would use a ball valve. Means you can turn a 1/4 turn to turn-on or turn-off. Use plastic pipe cement and follow directions. This will be one of my first upgrades when I return to the States.
