Fresh Water?

Well it seems as if it is time to get a new rig! We seem to develop a new problem every trip and or every leg of a trip! We ran out of water in the fresh water tank and the pump ran for a while trying to pump non existent water! As I understand it the pump should be able to run without water for a considerable time.

So we filled up the fresh water tank and turned on the pump because we were preparing to make another leg of our trip home. Inside at the kitchen sink the water is not more than a weak stream. Outside at the city water intake the water is gushing out! Turn off the pump and the gushing stops.

We have an older model Monty.... a 2002 3295RK. The pump is obviously working and pumping well. Just not in the place we want it.

Would appreciate any ideas as to what the problem might be.

Thanks,
Dennis

Dennis, if the water is gushing out of the city water connection I would say that your check valve(non-return valve) on the city connection has either stuck open or taken a total dump. It is not a hard repair or fix but needs to be done before you will get decent pressure in the rig again. If you have been in a "hard" water area for awhile then it may have a calcium buildup on the flapper. You may be able to release it by tapping on it. If not then the other option is replacing the whole fitting... Dave

Dave wins the prize Dennis, it's not a hard fix. Maybe you can rig up a plug for that till you get the new check valve

Dennis, Try turning the pump off. Then open a faucet to relieve residual pressure. Then take a small pointed object and push the small plunger that you see in the city water connection a few times. Sometimes that clears the back flow problem. Bill

If you have access to city water you may also try to connect, run some water through system and it may possibly reset or clean the check valve.
