I have a question about the extended protection plans. Our dealer told us the standard multiple-year warranty on the refrigerator and furnace require, by the mfr, an annual maintenance checkup by an authorized service center. And the owner pays for this checkup. I forgot how much it costs but remember it was surprisingly high. If I recall it was around $150 or so for each appliance. The dealer said without proof of this checkup the warranty will be denied after the first year.
So my question is, do the extended warranties require the same thing? And, if a person did not get the checkup, would the extended warranty take over after the first year or would it go into effect only after the published length of the mfr's warranty? In other words, could one get caught between warranties?
