I didn't start this thread to start a discussion about political issues such as where products sold in the US are made and the effect foreign produced products have on the employment and economy here in the USA.

I started this thread to ask folks that actually have one of these generators to let us know what they think of it.

So, do you have one?
Not yet, I will though as I was in the market for a similar Champion but the thread had made me reconsider.

The "Boss" is waiting for me to get some of my chores done but I wanted to thank all of you for the comments that you've made in this thread.

The positive comments have helped me confirm that I made a decent decision by buying the Predator 3500 for my needs.

The negative comments have opened my thought process and shown how buying the Predator may have been a mistake. Only time will tell.

Anyway, again I want to thank all of you for your comments.

OK, I'm ready to pull the trigger on a Predator 3500 from HF.

Is anyone here a member of the Inside Track Club and can see if there is a discount price for the Predator 3500 vs the current price of $699?

Is it worth joining is what I'm asking.

I've used mine a couple of times and it's worked fine.

It's going to be interesting to see how it performs running the 15K BTU A/C this summer.

I had a Yamaha 2400is and it ran either one of my 15000BTU A/C units just fine. I can't see how a more powerful generator could do less.

Hi Guys,

Been kinda busy but here are a couple of photos showing you how I have the generator in the bed of my RAM 2500 and how I have to set the bed cover when running the generator. Normally when traveling down the road, the bed cover is flat over top of the generator.

The generator works fine and looks like it was a good choice - IMHO

I have a 3500/4000 Chinese (Champion) generator that will only start a 13K AC once but not again once it is cycling. I really question just how accurate the information is on these low budget generators.

But I really do hope one of the generator companies will break out as a good lower cost unit and bring the prices down and quality up across the board! I most especially hope one of them seriously breaks into the onboard market and knocks Onan off its high horse!!!

Besides that one not being enough is incentive for the wife to concede on me getting the welder/gen......after all that is a big reason I got the long bed.

I recently purchased two of the HF Predator 3500's. I followed break in procedures and have tried using just one and it pulls one A/C unit fine or runs the heat pump fine. I purchased a champion parallel kit for 2800 watts and above and it works just fine. The only draw back is you have to order a set of extra adapter plugs from Champion. With the units hooked together it has no issues running both A/C units. I did extensive rescearch on the Predator before buying and I found relatively few negative reviews. What is interesting is that the Predator is quieter than my relatives Honda 2000I, they have a long run time under load and start flawlessly. The only real negative is they are not remote start/shutoff. I would recommend the Predator to anyone.

What is the run time (full tank) with just one A/C on with the Predator 3500?

So do I -

I have been looking at maybe installing the Predator on a slide tray in the front compartment. Taking all of the plastic off it would make it easy to install. Can you guess just what the number of sales would be if someone took a similar inverter generator and set it up for RV's. They would sell a lot.

I bit the bullet and sold my Yamaha 2400 and bought a Predator 3500. And yes the Yamaha did run either of my 15000 A/C units even with only having the 15A duplex plug.
The Predator is the EXACT SAME generator as the Loncin 3500, same as the Echo 3500 and the Northern Tool 3500 Generator all of these sell for over $1200. It also has a unbadged Honda engine. Parts are available from Northern Tool as well as Echo for this generator.
I saw a review of a Predator 3500 that had 3600 hours on it and was still solid and running strong. This generator has been out for a couple of years and no serious complaints but many happy owners. Listen to the owners and not the armchair engineers.
I'm just sayin.

Is the Predator fuel injected?

predator 3500

Do any of you good 3500 owners know what the thread size is on the oil dipstick? I bought a "universal" magnetic dipstick, supposed to fit all chinese honda-clone portable generators, but it did not fit.

Thanks
