They have been well aware of the toilet seat falling off since last year and the lugnut rust has been an issue forever. They replaced my lugnuts in 2007

We leave for the service center Sunday AM for our Monday morning appointment. We only have 16 defects on our list which is a improvement over the 26 we had on the 06 3400. All of the defects were out of the factory and except for the defective propane regulator and the slides improperly adjusted we could have corrected them ourselves. We did however expect a quality product out of the factory and that did not happen. The guys at the service center are great and their work is of the highest quality. The major components of this 3402 big sky have performed flawlessly and execpt for these little stupid quality issues we are very pleased..

My 2001 was built much better than my 2010. There are a lot more bells and whistles on the 2010, but poor parts and workmanship are not acceptable.

I've read all this and after doing so a question absolutely jumps out at me. Why did you choose a 3402 over a 3400 this time? I have printed out and studied drawings for both floorplans. It's obvious that the 3402 is 11 inches longer overall and the pin weight is 165# heavier. You get a tub instead of a shower but end up with a smaller wardrobe beside the bed. You also end up with the lavatory in the toilet room which seemingly no one likes. You also give up the laundry chute in the floor. Both units seem the same from the steps to the back end. What am I missing here?

Hi Dave, no you are not missing anything, we have a 3402 rl and chose it over the 3400 because we LOVE (my wife especially) the extra vanity in the bedroom although the sink in the main bathroom could be a better design it still works it is nice to have seperate vanities when you get ready for the day,if we were NOT fulltimers it would be no big deal to have the extra vanity and we do miss the laundry chute in our old big sky, Rich maybee has other reasons but thats ours anyway

We always go to Florida (Topsail) and I keep the closet beside the bed filled with fishing clothes. I really wouldn't want that closet any smaller. We also like the clothes hamper especially with slightly damp clothes. A sink that isn't truly big enough to brush my teeth or shave in is useless to me. My wife and I prefer a shower to a tub. (no ring around us) If I were buying a new unit I would lean toward the 3400. Ain't choices great?

Pretty much the same readsons as big sky Jimmey. The extra sink could have been better designed but it works. The second vanity is all mine and I do not have to compete with Helen fo sink and vanity. The tub has a shower and it is a bit larger. Thew closet beside the bed is the same size as the 06 3400.
We do not miss the laundry chute as it gives more room the the compartment.Bottom line personal choice.

Come on Rich, you know men never read the instruction book, but Helen should have so she could tell you how to operate it. LOL

Yea it's pretty cool you can control the flame speed and back lighting to add ambiance, makes you want to lay out a bear rug and bring out the wine and cheese and get Romantic with the little lady LOL

You are doing fine, reading the book is the LAST resort.

I will put a end to this thread. The service center corrected all my "issues" and they were all issues I could have corrected myself
I wanted to make a point.I hope the thread wiil have helped folks who are buying or thinking of buying a new Montana product. They wll not be perfect nor will any brand but the Montana is a fine 5th wheel and a great bang for the buck.

We recently purchaced a 2013 big sky 3402. We took a 5 day trip to work out any bugs. All went well until I tried to winterize. The Hot water bypass valve was turned properly, as was the "winterize" valve. When the water pump was turned on, it ran constantly, with no faucets running! Worse yet, no antifreeze was sucked into the system!! Upon investigation, I found what appeared to be a white "check valve stem"(??) inside the antifreeze inlet! I inserted a small piece of plastic tubing into my short antifreeze hose to "actuate" the valve. Antifreeze was very slowly sucked into the system when each faucet was opened. Any ideas as to the purpose of this "valve", and why the pump ran constantly with no faucets open, and why the suction was so poor even when valve was gerryrigged open? Any suggestions, answers would be much appreciated.

The check valve is there for a reason ... to prevent backflow. Several of us have found that you need to use two rubber hose washers on the inlet fitting. Without the second washer, it sucks a bit of air causing the pump to constantly run with little else happening. This issue probably should have been put forth on a separate thread.

PS Welcome to the MOC ... there's lotsa good info here

X-2 on the double hose washer I also had to double up the washers on the black tank rinse fitting
