Dimplex Firesplace 2015 3440RL

Yesterday the Dimplex fireplace stared to make a new strange sound that sounds like a intermittent squeal when the fireplace is in the flame mode and heating. When I shut the flame display off and only the logs glow with the heater on the noise stops. How do you troubleshoot something like this? It looks like there are just 4 screws two on each side, if you remove them does the fireplace just pull out? What will I see when it comes out?

Thanks.

There's a rotating rod with Mylar strips sticking out to make the flame effect and that may be what's making the noise. You'll have to remove the fireplace and start taking it apart to find out. It's just a big box with several parts screwed together.

Mine is an 07' but it is easy to look in side. Remove 4 screws on out side then you can remove trim. Glass front comes off with a couple more screws. Some times they only need dusting. Which can be done some times with a can of air or an air compressor. Can get canned air at Stapples or Wally World.
Hope that helps you some..

That shaft with mylar that walt mentioned has to be bent to insert or remove when doing more disassembly for other things. Very easy to bent to get it to rotate mostly in a line. Have fun with it. John

Hwelcome to the world of fireplace squeak. Does it do it when you first start the fireplace or after you have had it running for awhile? My never squeaks at the dealership because it takes quite awhile to start squeaking. I cannot remember who replayed to my question on the squeaky fireplace but his solution was to trim the flame activating rod and then he had no more annoying squeak. I have not done the repair yet as I just turn off the flame when the noise starts.
