The good stuff

Folks have posted "all we hear about are problems what about the good stuff" They are right. We do not hear that a pendant light did not fall off the ceiling. That our fridge did not fail. That our John did not leak. On the noon news we did not hear there was no crime to day in Orlando. There we no accidents on I-4. All we heard was trouble and problems.

We were doing our get ready to go back to Ohio from Florida chores today. The G614 tires showed no signs of dry rot or cracking wear was even( we do have the Mor Ryde IS system) The lowest PSI after sitting for 6 months was 100.4 down from 105psi .That also indicate the rims are solid with no cracks or leaks. No leaks detected in the 6 point or slides. We had several heavy rains this winter no leaks in the roof or slides. Two of our 4 holding tanks did not leak. One of our two scare lights did not burn out. That is only a start many things did not fail.We had no problems with many, many things. We will continue with the good stuff as we continue.

Great post Rich! I guess sometimes we all do get carried away with the bad luck things and forget to share the good things too.

As Full Timers, we are Extremely PLEASED with our Montana. We have owned 3 Montana's and would not own any other brand of 5th wheel. We have enjoyed many wonderful miles and adventures and look forward to many more.

Yes we have had a few issues along the way but nothing that couldn't be worked through or fixed. The first place I always head to for help is right here at the MOC and the folks here are always very helpful and full of information and advice. Overall we are very happy and always promote the Montana line of 5th wheels and Especially the Montana Owners Club!!

This is exactly what I said a while back. No body posts every thing is good. All you hear about Is what went wrong. I have never said I have had trouble with my camper. For good reason, I haven't had any trouble.

I always felt that it is easy to be negative, especially when we become upset with the RV. But we all need to appreciate that we are able to afford to buy the fifth wheel and truck while many others can not afford the significant cost. I know I complain too much and I need to appreciate that I can afford to own this huge trailer and great truck. God Bless!

It helps to be a "glass is half full" kinda guy, I guess. As in Rich's comment "..2 of the 4 holding tanks didn't fail". Maybe it's time to buy a lottery ticket?

One of the purposes of the MOC was to share experiences good and bad in the hope it might help others. Good news is seldom shared because it is good news and it dos not help me to know your fridge did not fail but it sure does to know that if it did how did it fail and how did you correct the problem and is there something I can learn or not do to prevent mine from failing.

Orlando Fl Metro area has a population of over 2.1 million. The 6PM news reported that there were a few killings 2 drive by shootings one home invasion a couple of accidents on 1-4 an some drug busts, robberies and beatings. It did not report that absolutely nothing happened to 99.999 % of those over 2.1 million people.

we can try to mix some of the positive along with the Minor or minimal problems we may have.

Even when we are only reporting the bad things that happen on the rig so that it might help someone else, we do input about the fixes (good), do input about mods/improvements (good), and we have this wonderful forum full of good people (ok, the brief ad thing had me ready to leave the forum). People have to look at the whole...not just part of what goes on here. Enjoy the heck out of all you folks...long may we rv and tell others how to correct the issues that could turn us off from the rv life. John

Hi richfaa

You are correct; I have some things that haven’t given me any problems, Converter, Air conditioners, refrigerator, G-614 tires (no blowout), windows and the Fantastic fan.

If I think of anything else I will let you know.

Same here....we have so may things to be thankful for with our rig that even the small things tend to be just annoyances....The great thing about this forum is that even with some of the very unpleasant things that happen with some of our rigs we still maintain a good level of professionalism. I am sure many have seen some of the posts on other forums which can get down right ugly.

Besides, if everything was perfect I would be bored not having to tinker on something!

We love our rig and would recommend it to anyone we see that asks!

Rich and Helen,
You mentioned fender screws do they come out on their own? We noticed one missing before this trip..... Not sure what happened. Where do you get replacements? This is only our second trip with our new Montana..... Also when we took the chairs out from under the bed one was broken..... How do I get a replacement?. (Obviously we didn't do a thorough enough PDI.....)Unfortunately we drove 10 hrs to buy this rig so taking it back isn't an option. Is something like that covered under warranty and if so doesn't Camping World do warranty work on Montana's?

As far as the "good stuff" goes - everything else has been perfect!! We are loving it!

Thanks everyone,

Yes, they will wiggle loose. Don't over tighten, check often, and we put a little dab of silicone sealant on the exposed thread theads and that seems to keep them in place.

On the fender screws, the sheet aluminum is too thin to hold the screw. Go the the hardware store and back in the nuts and bolts department are things called speed nuts. They are a small curved piece of metal and the hole is sized to fit sheet metal screws. I have put these on the back of all my fender screws and since then have not lost a single screw.

Take one of your screws in with you cause the speed nuts come in different sizes. You might have to strip out the threads in the alumn panel so the speed nut will tightnen.

Look like this.

Do what Jim above did and you will never lose another fender screw.
