Lost the montana from hurricane sandy!
So the water went up about 8' in my shop and ended up flooding my 5th wheel. I have never seen the water get high in that area in the long time that i've been there. Im thinking its a total loss as i dont think they can get the stench out of the carpets along with all the pumps and electircal components that were ruined. The water came up about 6 inches over the front door.

Definitely sorry for the loss, I am hopeful your insurance will do the right thing! Ditto on the good news that you are okay, material things can be replaced!

So sorry to hear your news. But as others are saying the material things can be replaced and you and your family can not be. We will say a few prayers for your quick recovery.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. Luckily this was only at my shop, and not at my home. At home it seems as if there was an invisible dome over our house because there was no damage on our block. everywhere else there was massive damage. No power, downed trees, big time cleanup. At home we have everything. Power, no downed trees and no water in the basement. In that sense we were lucky, but no one saw the flooding coming in the area of my shop. I'll keep you guys posted on the insurance portion. i do have comp and collision so i dont forsee a problem there. But then again who knows.

Glad to hear you, your family and home are ok. I would fight, if necessary, to have the insurance total the Monty. Infrastructure issues from being soaked in water will be numerous and may not completely show themselves for some time.

Dmax,
Really sorry to hear about your loss. Thankfully it was only the property you lost and you and your family are safe!
Keep the Faith, it will get better.

DMax,
I know it wouldn't help with the shop BUT the Monty does have WHEELS! With the warning time they gave on the storm I would have thought there would have been plenty of time to move the rig..... But then again if you'd never had a flooding problem there before..... Sorry you had this problem and hope you get fully compensated. Dennis

Hopefully you have flood insurance and all will be OK. If you don't have flood insurance, take it from a Florida hurricane been there done that, the fight is about to start.
