Water Pressure Regulator

I dont remember where I got the information from but I have to blab on how it works. Just like Tony the Tiger sayes "Great"

I had one of the other regulators that was adjustable with a gage, and very costly too from Camping World, the only problem I was having was the lack of VOLUME when more than one fauset was used.
This new regulator ( EB-86 by CASH ACME )has a 3/4" opening and is adjustable to 70 lbs.

On my last trip I hooked it up and it worked as I was told it would by another.

The only thing is the pipes say that they have a test pressure of 160 lbs, which is OK but the conectors what are they rated at? I would like to increse the pressure to 55 lbs.

Anybody have any feedback about that 55 lbs. pressure I would like to increse my supply to.

I will be open to any type of feedback.

Where can I get one of these regulators? I have a gauge with a needle that tells the highest pressure spikes, when camped for a while I monitor it for the first few days then remove the regulator if the pressure stays low enough.

I don't know where to get that particular regulator, but you can buy the watts regulator from Lowes. It does the same thing only rated for whole house. Tell one of the people working there what you are going to be using it for and they will help you get the right model and with all the garden hose fittings. It does work.

I got mine at home builders supply, but Home Depot, Lowes or a plumbing supply would also have this item. Mine is manufactured by " Cash Amce " and the model # is EB 86 the EB 76 will also work to. it looks a little smaller than the one I got.

Look at this picture and see what it looks like completed.

Good to know, thanks for sharing. I do like the increased volume when taking a shower.

We have the adjustable regulator from CW and have it set at 57psi. That seems to work best for us. Any more than that and we tend to blow flush water out of the toilet bowl (clean water).

What problem did you have with your CW regulator? Ours adjusts to 160 psi although the gauge doesn't go that high. It has always worked great. Well, recently I took it apart to clean out the crud and now I'm not sure how well it's working. Haven't had a place with enough pressure to know for sure if I messed it up.

Your pipes and fittings will carry 55psi but you have to worry about the platic valve in your comode.

I went to Lowes and got the Watts 25AUB 3/4" regulator (Same thing as the EB-86 by CASH ACME) as well as the male and female hose fittings.
Hooked it up set it for 60PSI and it is working as I type this. Although the water pressure at this camp is normally 60 psi I felt because this is city water I needed the regulater for any pressure surges. It sure is great having some water pressure for taking a shower. The 45 PSI you get from those preset Camping World or Wally World regulators just doesn't get it.

Glenn

You may want to reduce that pressure to 45-50 psi. As mentioned in previous post, the valve in your commode may not be able to take that much pressure for an extended time.

Good Luck

I have never regulated the incoming water pressure when it was 60 PSI or less and never had a problem. This included a 9 week stay this past summer with a pressure of 58 PSI. In the situation at this particular cg I am now in I know the city water surges on occasion to 90+ PSI. It is these type surges that can cause the damage not the constant 60 PSI. I was also told at an RV show that the water systems, including the toilet, are tested at 125+ PSI but I have also found that a pressure of 60 PSI is all I need.

I work at a plumbing and electrical distributer. I thought I would chime in with my 2 cents worth. I agree with Silverbait about keeping the pressure around 50psi. Not only the valve in your toilet may not be able to handle high pressure for long periods, but also the faucets. I am sure the valves are not of very high quality and may not be able to handle high pressure for long periods either.
As for as the pressure relief valve goes we handle the watts 25aubz7 and it sells to contractors for around $40. Watts does also make an economy regulator that is around $25-$30. But any whole house regulator should work just as well. just my 2 cents worth.

Gang you have peaked my interest in installation of a water pressure regulator. I understand all the specifics except the "where". Are you putting them directly on the city supply faucet or are you attaching them in line or on the side of the unit? Also, I use a water filter, and assume that the filter would come along after the regulator???

I put ours the same place you'd put the inexpensive inline filters from Walmart and other places. I put mine on the parks' hose bib. Actually, I use a Y connector so I can run two lines off the hose bib but always did that regardless of regulator. I then attach the regulator to one side of the Y. The hose then connects to the regulator.
Maybe a picture would help understand this:

Like Steve says,
first- on the campground faucet goes the wye with individual inline on/off valves.
On one side of the wye is the garden hose used for washing the rig or flushing the black tank. Not regulated as I want plenty of pressure for washing and flushing.
On the other side of the wye is the regulator with pressure gauge. My regulator is set between 55 and 60 psi. Others say no higher than 45 to 50 psi but so far I have not had a problem at 55 to 60.
To the regulator you connect your white drinking water hose.
To the white hose you than connect any filters.
At this point you connect to the trailer.
And finally Turn The Water On!

Ours is set at 57 psi, like Glenn's. I found we have no problems with the lines and have decent pressure if the park can provide that much pressure. If I go higher than 57, then the toilet tends to shoot flush water out the bowl. 57 and below, no problem. I've been using it at this setting for more than 19 months of fulltiming. No signs of damage from anything of the water lines or valves so far.
