Someone looks out for us
Sunday on the way to Pahrump, NV. we stopped for fuel in Kingman, Az. A nice young man came up to me and told me that a tire on the fifth wheel was going bad. He worked at a tire shop a block away. Not only did I have 1 tire about to blow, 3 of the 4 were bad. They showed me where they were seperating. Had approx 30 grand on them. I guess I got my monies worth. So for big! bucks had them put on the best trailer tire they had. They are 12 ply instead of 10. Maybe it is my mind playing games with me, but the trailer seems to tow better. I am so thankful that someone knew what he was seeing and we did not have a very bad event.

Glad he saw it! What kind of tires were they? We also think the trailer pulls better with the G614's. Doesn't matter if it's mental or physical, it makes us feel better.

In addition to the brand, am curious if it is your second set or the originals? After all, we haven't had a good tire bashing thread, in what? a couple of days or so?? Hee Hee!!

Ok guys they are a brand named Duro. Made in China, but that was the best he had in stock for trailers. Rated at 3960 lbs. I replaced the orginal Tacoma tires after the first blowout. The replacements were Towmax. This is my third set.

Now that you know what to look for, I hope you will be watching those Chinese tires closely.

Sounds like you have had pretty good results regardless of the brand. You are very fortunate to have help in the form of someone who actually knew what they were looking at!

Dick I hope you have good luck with the new tires and do keep an eye on them. when we came though there last yr somewhere close to leeds Ut I stopped at a pilot to refuel and a mech was all over me to let him replace atleast 2 of my tires because they were seperated. I told him that the axels were bad and I would fix them when I got home. he still tryed everything to get me to let him replace them I pulled it another 2500 miles. I am not saying you were in the same shape but those folks do make me nervous. I put a new set of uniroyals on mine. just food for thought!!

Dick and Toni,
You are a lucky couple. Sure glad you got some expert help. He obviously saved you untold $$$$ and not to mention hassle and possibly of serious bodily damage. Anyway you are safe. It always pays to take a good luck at your tires. As we were leaving from Lake Siskiyou one year Mary Kay happened to look at one of the tires. She just happened to see a large tear in one of the valleys of a tread. We would not have make it very far. So it does pay to take a close inspection of ones tires. Drive safely and have a safe journey on into your home.
Mary Kay is still up in Seattle but coming home this weekend. It has rained and or snowed almost everyday they have been there. But they still say they are liking it! I'm already having cabin fever and I sitting at my sticks and bricks!
Hope your new tires work out for you. Later, Dennis

You are very lucky. You need to buy a lotto ticket while you are on a roll.
