Dometic Convection Microwave Dead

Our microwave went out when we hooked up to 50 amp service in the RV park. The breaker did not trip and microwave is dead. Is there an internal fuse or is my unit dead and need of replacing.

Make sure the plug did not wiggle out of the outlet. Pull the 4 screws holding the grill and you should be able to see it

There aren't any screws in the vent and I don't believe the cord has come loose. I think the pedestal is wired wrong and caused a high surge which possibly fried my microwave.

Did you lose anything else, like your converter? If indeed the pedestal is wired incorrectly or you lost the neutral, then you could get upwards of 240 volts through any appliance that was "on" like the microwave which is "on" when the clock is displayed.

Michael, I think you may have hit it right. I plugged my EMS in and it showed about 260 amps on line two and it probably fried the microwave. I didn't have the EMS plugged in before because it gave me problems in Mesa this winter and may have been responsible for melting my co-axial in the trailer. If I had the EMS plugged into the pedestal it would have stopped the surge. The park tried to tell me there was aproblem with my trailer. The hot water heater breaker would not stay on during this also. When we plugged into the pedestal next to us everything else worked, except the microwave which had already been fried. Don't stay at Mission RV in San Antonio because they have faulty pedestals.
