Will you still buy an Anderson Hitch

https://idahostatejournal.com/member...53287525d.html

Seems like the owner of Anderson Hitches is in a bit of a problem. Evidently he was caught defacing on of the arches at Arches National Park. Innocent until proven but ......

My guess is that sale will take a hit but since people seem to have short memories, probably return unless he end up in deeper problems

You really have a problem about those hitches don`t you. Direct your energies toward contributions and continuing education and you`ll smile at the end of the day.

I would consider all of that a contribution and education. Because a well respected company that is in the RV industry and promotes travel to many of our great parks and historic land marks has now defaced one of them. I think that is a really big deal and unacceptable behavior.

NO I try to take care of our outdoors. It’s time for him to practice what he preaches or get out of business.

Is a year in jail enough? Will a $100,000 fine cover fixing their mess? Not a very bright person(s). Would they like someone defacing their home? I'm not an enviro-nut but would not support people like this in any way ~~ as I prefer B&W hitches it makes no difference but would rather see jail time as they evidently could easily cover the fine with little discomfort.

Well, this is interesting: http://www.moabtimes.com/view/full_s...t-Arches-N-P-?

From 2016. Notice the text of the graffiti included "Andersen". Looks like this jackass may be a serial vandal.

About anyone has skeletons in one's closet ... it just depends on if that set of bones rattles enough to get noticed. "If" he did it ... stupid on his part and his livelihood will change forever. Let's see Kennedy, Nixon, Clinton, Carter ... they all had skeletons.

Well, that's depressing. Draw a line from Page, AZ to Glacier NP. 75 miles either side of that includes all our favorite places to visit. The most awesome scenery in the country for us. Not going to cause me to tear the AUH out of our truck, and not going to cause me to not recommend it because of the benefits it affords us, but THAT'S DEPRESSING! I think jail time and restitution for being so stupid and inconsiderate.

As Dave has said "Innocent until proven". I would let it play out before making a decision. You would not only be impacting the owner but also their employees.

Their opinion it is safe, but they know it is too close even with the nose on most new 5ers to make a sharp turn.

We are considering going to an AUH. This news by itself will not necessarily change our decision. It may or may not even be a factor in my decision. This should not be interpreted as support for any criminal activity. I for one have done things in my life that I should not have and as I have matured in life have tried to learn from my mistakes and prevent those that I have influence with to not commit the sames mistakes.

I just met with someone that has an aluminum AUH in a short bed and when mounted properly per the manufacturer's instructions, with the ball toward the tailgate, the truck and trailer never met even at 90 degrees. We have a long bed and don't think this is an issue for us however curious to know more regarding your failure.

Well said PNW Fireguy. If people had abandoned me for youthful mistakes I would be one lonely dude.

Didn't know Ryan Anderson was a youth.

I have F350 short bed and 3730FL. First time I hooked up, I had concerns about rail height because the 4 x 4 does sit high. But pin weight caused it to settle down to almost perfectly level. When I first got the Andersen I went to a big parking lot just to see what my capabilities were in turning and bed rail clearance. I found that I could actually go a little past 90 degrees, and at 90 I had about 4-6" clearance to back of cab, depending on other factors. Gotta' say, in response to earlier post, if someone damaged their 5er because of truck/trailer contact, it would seem they weren't being very careful and observant. If the hitch was properly installed, I can see why Andersen would absolve themselves, assuming there are no other circumstances. I don't think their advertising says anything about guaranteeing against problems not of their making.

I still make mistakes as an adult just not the same kind as when I was a younger person. We are all human. I am not a holier than thou type. Ryan Andersen is innocent until proven guilty. These are more than just words in our society. Even if he is found or pleads guilty does that mean this is a person that cannot be redeemed within our society. I think not. Let's not throw our fellow humans away because of their shortcomings. I see a teachable moment here.
